As most of us already know bigger poly meshes and OBJ format dont go in pair ,since obj cant handle anything with big poly count.
As my tutor subject i choose the bousolle (one of the bigger poly ships )

as can see this is what happens when u port it to obj and import i to ur 3d program,here is where tool come usefull
(if ur 3d program can import vmrl files then just skip the below steps )
[attachment=4567:2.jpg]
open the desired mesh in tool
[attachment=4568:3.jpg]
go to edit scene
[attachment=4569:4.jpg]
delete some of its contents and save it as a backup (repeat this for every mesh beeing part of the original gm.file
[attachment=4570:5.jpg]
open ur backup in gm viewer and port it to obj
[attachment=4571:6.jpg]
import ur obj.file to ur 3d program
now ur ready to do some editing :urgh
