Ships I am working on.

Shrouds? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

the lines running from the topmast fighting tops to the boards, the topmasts to the topgallant fighting tops, and maybe on.

okay, now i'm just doing this on purpose. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> they're the lines where the ratlines are attached to in between them. those ladders on the sides of the masts. shrouds are the vertical ropes.

I have replaced the black cat head with one from the AOP Galleon as it was bugging me and I think it looks better now.

<img src="http://seanorris.googlepages.com/CatheadPic3.JPG" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Morgan do you mean like the Bermuda Sloop?

I don't know what a cat head is, but your last screenshot does look good. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

yes, like on the barmuda sloop. but i'd rather prefer it like on the black pearl, as they look far better.

Ok, been bitin' my tongue on this one, but I've got to pipe up. I too like brigantines alot, but that ain't no brigantine. A brigantine has a fore-n-aft main, and square rigged fore. What you have there has a square rigged main and a fore-n-aft rigged mizzen. A hermaphrodite, as noted previosly, also called a jackass brig. To truly rig a brigantine, I would suggest starting with one of the three masted models, delete the mizzen, and put the gaff rig on the main, extending the boom and sail a little past the taff rail. She should be faster than the schooner with the wind abaft the beam, but not as fast to windward, and not able to point quite as high. And what the heck do they teach Dutch sailors these days that they don't know what deadeyes and catheads are? I use deadeyes on my little 24' wooden gaffer. Their modern equivalent would be the turnbuckle, which lacks their style and is more prone to failure. As for catheads, they are booms that project out from the bows to allow the anchor to be lifted without dragging and bumping it along the side of the hull. And we certainly wouldn't want to scratch the paint on that lovely hull. Nice job there! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Hi Rum Runner, I found a pic of a Brigantine here: <a href="http://www.ships.jbc.gen.nz/shipages/rigs.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ships.jbc.gen.nz/shipages/rigs.htm</a> I will probably use this to rig the hull as a Brigantine as well, with maybe a different colour scheme <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> but this will only be done when I have finished modeling/tweaking this. If you have a decent sail plan for a brigantine it would be great.

i know that's not a proper brigantine, but it's one of the most beautiful brig types in the game, so i'd say leave it as it is!

I have now added more ropes to the rigging and also refit the ship with cannons from theBlackPearl after scaling them, also the cannon locators have been aligned to the new guns. It might be better to make the anchors and catheads into objects placable by locators (to use on the brigs) but I can't seem to get it to work like that yet... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

looks good! you forgot the lift for the boom though. it's a rope running from the place where the upper boom meets the mast to the end of the lower boom. it's a support rope. think you could put that on without to much confusion? for as far as i can see, the other ropes seem to be correctly placed. i'll need to inspect it porperly myself in the game though.

Alternatively, couldn't we use your improved Brigantine hull and use that for the brigs instead, keeping the original brig's rigging?
BTW: Do you do all your model modifications with the Tool or with an external 3D program like 3D Studio MAX? If the latter, do you get the reversed lighting effect?

Yes I use 3ds Max 8 (still learning to use it though), I do get that annoying reversed lighting. I even went as far as removing resource folders from the game to find what controls the lighting to see if I can solve it but to no avail. Also I could apply the anchors and catheads to the brig and leave their launches were they are if you dont mind the reversed lighting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Personally I prefer having better models over having no reversed lighting. Even when you do add the new parts as a seperate object, the new items will have the reversed lighting even if the hull won't. Hopefully we'll soon be getting the proper tools and we can fix them all.

Could you post the cannon.gm models you use?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I am not at my computer at the moment but as soon as I get home I will, is it the resized cannon you want as they were originally from theBlackPearl model.

yes, that's the rope i meant! i starting to look better and better. now i REALLY want a brigantine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

In that case Pieter I will add the new objects to the Brig's model it should'nt take long I might even do it later <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I am indeed, it may take a while though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
