Setting Error Logs for PotC Bugtesting

Can't seem to get the logfile to appear in my main directory.
I followed these steps:

tracefilesoff = 0

debuginfo = 1
codefiles = 0
runtimelog = 1


When ingame and pressing the log/bugfixingbutton "O" nothing happens,is this normal?

I had a systemlog in the main directory but it kept on showing the same thing:

"Scanning current directory
Loading modules...
Loaded 0
Reset...
Initializing CORE...
User Rised Exception
C:\PROJECTS\DRIVE_V2\ENGINE\SOURCES\Core.cpp line 364
no 'engine.ini' file"

I believe this was even before i experienced any problems.
Thought, if i would remove this from he main directory a new one would be created.

So euhh... what am I doing wrong here fellas?
 
log/bugfixingbutton "O"? Never heard of that one before. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
The general idea is that if you have logging enabled, system.log and compile.log are generated and updated while you play the game.
Also any errors encountered would be generated in error.log. There's no button that needs to be pressed for that; it just happens.

I must be explaining myself wrong here then.

in the game options menu, under change controls->general setting.default button O I believe...
It's described by the following text:
show info for character in front, do bugfixing.If game crashes reload and press this.

I’ve got the system log file in my main directory but that’s it.
no error log or compile.log file of any kind, at least not in the main menu.

That button description sounds confused. I am not aware of it doing any bugfixing at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I posted my problem a while ago, but can’t remember where.

The game crashes when using a potion through the interface.
Also, every single time when boarding a ship,no particular action just crashes.

These two problems seem to appear simultaneously though i can’t imagine how they could be related.

without the error log it’s hard to find the source.
 
With error log, it's probably hard too. I actually got a potion-crash myself a couple of days ago. Didn't investigate it further.
 
Quess you didn't have to.
The potion one i can bypass by using the quick use button on my keyboard.
The boarding bug however makes this game unplayable.
 
Do you have any additional information on that one. Your ship class, enemy ship class. Always/sometimes?

mine is a frigate, so class 2.
It always happen while boarding after a while and for no particular reason.
The enemy class is i believe irrelevant because i tried it on numerous ships of different classes of different nations.
Sometimes it happens in the first boarding screen sometimes in the second.

In the beginning the game ran fine without any problems.

I started a new game to check the potion bug,...It's gone!
but like the first time i posted this problem I'm sure it will appear once the game progresses, same with the boarding bug.

After the first time I got this bug, i reinstalled the game and played build 13 for a while.
This went fine and experienced no problems ore crashes whatsoever, even in late game.

But it just isn’t fun to play an older mod when a more advanced and obviously more enjoyably one is available. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Like I said the first time these problems appeared (before the reinstallation to mod 13) i had the same problem once the game progresses to mid late.

Don't believe it's quest related.
