Rafe, no I'm modding again, but actually not under any kind of gun, just playing around with some ideas and some skins... I made up a Catalina de Erauso skin on a French guard model, not finished with her yet. I also am working on a "Sneaky Trader" mod... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

The sneaky trader is going to be fun, I just did up some dialog yesterday and it makes me laugh - he's a trader of stolen goods, goods of dubious value, and items that might be illegal elsewhere like a lockpick for those pesky chests!

I gave the skin some scars and a broken nose - from dissatisfied customers, LOL...

Hey Catalina! Modding? <b>Again?</b> Sounds like a neat mod, very cool! That's what I've been doing. Dirt Track Racing Sprint Cars though. There's a certain joy derived from taking one of the Kinser boys up to the wall. Why is that do you suppose?

I uninstalled PoTC so I could finally get around to playing build 11. Had one hell of a time getting it `re-installed` though. Kept hanging up at 39% and wouldn't take disc 2. Catastrophic failure and all that. Finally tried it through the Plexwriter and got it done again about an hour ago. Which is good. Now I can play the Fred Bob Quest! Yippeeee!!!! Guess the Kinser boys will have to cool their heels in Muskogee until I get back!
 
Heh, Rafe, sounds like you've got some fun stuff ahead of ya there, but I know what you mean about racing - something about it...

I noodled around some more with the Sneaky Trader and got his dialog to work - gonna have him turn up on every island - with a different name for each - oddly enough I can get him to "run away" when threatened - but only on Oxbay, not on any of the other islands. Have to figure out what's going on, there... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Also want to make the dialog more varied, so you get different things from him whenever you talk to him/them...

I made up a patched coat for him to wear, but I might go back to the MI "Stan" look... It's just so much more outrageous. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Back on topic of screenshots, the whole look and feel of PotC with the sunrise and sunset and morning and afternoon lighting conditions - even when not at sea - are beautifully rendered. It's sooo cool to see it at sea, tho... I love seeing the moonlight through sails...
 
Aye. Sea reflections look very nice and they also come in handy. The front (bow?) sails of the frigate are so low you can't see a ship approaching from there, so i use the shadow reflections on the water to aim the front cannons. Just had a battle in a gentle rain, and look - rainbows! This game is sooo cool looking!!!

Yes, I DID bump up the saturation so that you could SEE the rainbows - they were pretty subtle in the original...
 
Wait! what's that by the xebec? I'm seeing a little arm in a green coat sticking out of the water! Sure and begorra, it's Lucky the Leprechaun!

The light effects in the game are amazing; and shadows and rainbows, I actually find myself squinting if I go into first person mode and look up at the Sun.

Is it my imagination or are there fewer eagles in the game since Build 11?
 
Wow, I've never seen a rainbow in the game before... But when I first started playing, I took scads of screenshots to use as desktop wallpaper.

Anyone ever notice how the skeleton models cast shadows with holes in them? I played half a game as a skeleton once, great fun. Lamps and fireplaces and such would shine right through his ribs.

Back to the original question of this post, sort of... Should I get the original Sea Dogs, after playing this game so much? Is it worth it, not a step back or anything?
 
Oh shoot, didn't know I had `double-posted`. Since it doesn't look like I can delete this note I'll try and come up with something almost worthwhile to say...

I was down in this dungeon in Oxbay a few hours ago, and this mammajamma started slicing into me out of nowhere. It took me a second to realize he was getting me THROUGH A WALL. Luckily I was able to hit back using the same bit of prestidigitation.
 
Alan, I don't recommend going back to Seadogs after PotC. Diehards will tell you how superior it is to PotC, and I'm sure it does outshine PotC in various areas, but its subpar graphics (for today's standards) are just too dull in comparison to PotC. Of course graphics aren't everything, but that is my suggestion anyway.
 
Fer the cost of SeaDogs game,ye really can't go wrong,if ye don't mind de acceptable graphics and de slow motion swordplay compared tew POTC wid HoseHeads Add on installer 1.11 it is a very entertaining and challenging game,especially de pirate type missions ye get from Ellaybe Island are a lot of fun.I would suggest however to only download new ships from version 1.12 Addon as HoseHead is still werk'n out de bugs, due to SeaDogs has pretty much reached its limit fer adding new Mods <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

...see, I have win XP and I hit the Print Screen button, but I don't know where to find them, I can also see that the screen stop forn a nanosecond it's smoothness so I guess I did right, but still....I did a research and I couldn't find any screenshots...there must be somewhere in the C:WINDOWS folder I guess.

Screenshots in PotC can be made by hitting the F8 key. The pictures are stored in the PotC directory, and are called SeaDogs2_(some number).tga

That .tga file extension means it is a TARGA file format and you should be able to open it up in any good image editing software - but not, unfortunately, MS Paint (which you probably have in your WinXP).

Screenshots that you get by hitting the "Print Screen" key CAN be opened up in MS Paint - they are saved to the clipboard, and you can do only one at a time (the F8 key will allow you to take multiple shots). The clipboard photos can be put into MS Paint (or any other image editing utility) by selecting EDIT/PASTE in your open program commands menu. In some more sophisticated image editing programs (such as Photoshop) you will have to create a new image (blank) and then paste your pic from the clipboard into that.

I tried to search .tga files in those folders, nothing...I am sure that I press F8 too.

There's always FRAPs. That's what I use. I have it linked to F12 and take movies linked to F11.

Works well, other than the fact that the files are 24bit BMPs and some video format. Pictures are in the 5mb range and 30sec. video w/sound is around 150MB. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> Pics are easy enough to convert to JPG.

As for the print screen, what you do is open Paint and paste. It'll take the screen off the clipboard from hitting Print Screen and voila! You have your screen shot. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hello Kev. I'm using a Leadtek GF3 `Ti-500`. Obsolete now, unfortunately.

The pics won't be up much longer. This is a quote from an `e-mail` I received from Cybertarp.
