The frigates almost paid for the battle damage and they do look nice in a frigatey sort of way. The point is that I had 2 slow cargo ships and 1 fast cargo ship. Now I still have 2 slow ships and one fast ship while I COULD have had 2 fast merchantmen.

Gotta get another BP now.

I always preferred caravels as my cargo ships, they are slow but have massive holds. I just sail them away from the fight and after use them to haul the booty, but it certainly helps to have captains that obey orders.

I have been experimenting with sails, and it had to happen. A Spanish ship with French sails and Dutch flags.

My Constitution would have destroyed all those ships.
Once I attacked about 6 ships, some were aboarded and sunk, the rest were destroyed.
Only 50 sailors from 420 died during that battle. Too easy.

Sometimes this game surprises me. Once I was chasing by spanish squadron. On the map it was marked as a big ship, so I didn't want to fight. I didn't sliped them away and I had to fight.
During battle I noticed there were 4 spanish war tartanes ( 8 cannons ? ). I aboarded all of them, captains were taken as prisoners, a part of crew was taken as slaves and the rest were thrown overboard.


I really like Unicorn, this ship looks really good. Once I was using La Licorne but I don't like this ship.
There are a few ships I really like:
- Constitution
- Unicorn
- Surprise
- Nightmare
- Raa Frigate

Once I aboarded Nightmare, I'd sailed with Raa Frigate and I didn't know if I should take Raa or Nightmare. Nightmare had got more cannons but my Raa Frigate was improved in Bermuda so it was faster, stronger and could take more sailors. I would have to leave about 50 well-experienced sailors because my ship could take more of them.

Anyway, I found and aborded Constitution. It belonged to France, their sailors were unexperienced so when I attacked them, they surrendered. There were about 100 sailors more then my frigate had...



I wonder how you got those colorful sails, Hylie.

Go in your COAS folder and then go to -->resource-->textures-->ships. Scroll down and you will find textures that start with parus and sail. Parus_common.tgs.tx is the base texture. Copy and rename one of the others and see what it does.
Parus_SoleyRu.tga.tx is the one with blue bars.

No, but it changes the sails on many ships. It looks best on the frigates.

I have not figured out how to change the sails of one ship but not the others.

It is a texture change and nothing else is needed. I just started a new game in GOF2 and got lucky and captured the Lyon Hoy right away, then changed her sails from common to silk.

In GOF 2.1.5 the Castel Friedrich heavy brigantine is currently my favorite ship. She doesn't look half sunk when the holds are full but most importantly she rides the waves much much smoother than any other ship I tried so far. There is none of that jerky mechanical movement that the other ships, even the big ones, have.
PS: I set the waterline to -0.7 and it looks good.

No. There was some sort of problem that prevented it from working in POTC. I am tempted to give it another try as I might have learned some new tricks over the years, although it looks like it might have the high camera bug in POTC.

I have learned something new! In GOF2 the long narrow ships ride the waves much smoother than the short wide ships, so now I am sailing frigates.

If I recall, you had pretty much the same specs that I do. I know I can run CoAS just fine. I just don't play it because... well... PotC.

YEs well not only that.. but when Hylie mentioned to upgrade my texture quality I spent 4 hours searching the web.. turns out I don't have Intel options and neither NVIDIA options.. so I couldn't find a way to upgrade my AA and AF. I don't see options available on control panel, neither when I right click on desktop (as you could with NVIDIA options)

That is a pretty strong argument for getting a desktop for gaming. Those can be built from mild to wild and even the cheap ones do ok in most games. Last Christmas I built up a desktop as a gift that ran around $400 USD, then last month I bought meself a video card that cost $360 USD. I'm not bragging as I spent many years on low tech hardware before finally catching up. Just trying to show the difference.

Yea laptops are built primarily for portability purposes more than stationary purposes.. however I hope to sort my self out with proper arrangements in the near future to experience ultimate privateering opportunies For now better I not continue this subject else someone might point the finger @ off topic
