Copied over for another thread so maybe more people will see it, heheh...
If this as been suggested somewhere, oops, sorry, did not find it... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />
I would like to see some kind of reputation for how you deal with these things on the sea, much like it was in te pirate era;<ul><li> If you show mercy when a ship surrenders, they may start to surrender because they know you will spare them, not hold them for ransom and so on.</li><li> If you slay and/or kidnap all aboard without a care, why would anyone surrender to you? Everyone that can lift any kind of make-shift weapon are <i>likely</i> to resist you!</li></ul>Is this going way too far already (at this stage and time in the Build), or is it within the realm of possibilities? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
I think Hu Kwan Do suggested something similar once - multiple reputations, so that you can be pretty darn charming but unreliable (once found out to be, reputation will slowly spread), downright rude but jolly trustworthy - to mention but two "reps" that could be applied, in addition to the one above...
Personally I would like to see this more or less hidden from the player too - people's reaction would tell you, and perhaps you could go see some old gypsy lady to give you a vague description...? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=")" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
Is this a big no-no right now, or a big maybe or a tiny yes...? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
