Realistic sailing but with fast travel/sail to

matthewnlu

Landlubber
Hi guys -- another noob post, sorry. Is there a way for me to change settings to preserve realistic sailing, ie. retain the feature where my ships sail realistically with the wind, but also have sail to/fast travel enabled? I enjoy the challenge of realistic sailing in battles but when I'm in town or I make landfall at an island, sometimes I just want to get somewhere quickly. Is there a way I can have the best of both worlds?

Thanks

Err, umm, hehe. That is why it's called realistic mode. The idea is to get you to wander around and explore your world. Once you have been to a place by actually going there, then you can fast travel there in the future.

In the meantime walk around and talk to people. :cheers

Open PROGRAM\ISLANDS\Islands_init.c and remove all instances of this:
Code:
if(!bArcadeMode)
Then start a new game. :doff

Did you manage to get it sorted then?

yep and im very happy with my game. i actually do have one issue and i'd rather not start a new thread for it.

ive noticed that other people on the forum have had the problem where they turn very, very slowly indoors. i have the problem too; its especially bad in tavern rooms (where you pay 5 bucks to sleep overnight upstairs) but its bad in general when im indoors, including in cabins inside ships. have you guys figured out a way to fix that bug beyond me reinstalling?

Dang. That problem happened a lot over a year ago, and then tapered off. Lately it seems to be happening again. When it happened to me I re-installed.

You can try deleting your "options" folder. That seems to help a variety of ills. Are you using patch 6?

I've had it happen a few months back, the slow in-door camera turning thing.

@matthewnlu, this is a very intermitent problem, and it doesn't seem to effect everybody so the thinking is it 'might' be some kind or rare hardware issue. Interestingly other Bethesda games also have seen this kind of problem(i've had it also on occasion in the game Morrowind), so that kind of reinforces the hardware+driver issue theory. Sometimes i'll have the problem, but most the time i won't.

If you do delete your 'options' file from the main directory, remember you will have to reset all your prefered game option prefrences(which might require a re-start depending on what you changed them too) and also any changes you might have made to your control prefrences.

I had that "slow turning" problem once when playing my Jack Rackham storyline game version, but not with my regular one.
One difference was that I usually play in windowed mode, but did not do so then.
Could it make a difference if you use fullscreen? Or are playing off of a slow HD (external in my case), as I was doing at the time?

im playing full screen, BUT im playing the build 14 patch 6 on vmware -- that is, a simulated windows xp environment. my mac specs are the current top of the line macbook pro 15". the rest of my game runs very well -- its limited to indoor environments. I usually use sidestep to move quickly if Im impatient, and usually in combat there's little need for me to make quick turns.
