Yeah, they're all trade items from the SLiB mod. Gold and silver are obviously very valuable. Apart from being just a trade item, bricks are used in the construction of your own colony. The gun powder is required to fire your ships guns. Slaves are tradable, however, you can set them free if you capture a slave trader and take them on as crew. Weapons are tradable and also required to arm your crew.

Be good to see some of these in our game.

I was thinking of starting off by getting the gold and silver into the Build as trade items, however I haven't had a look to see what's involved yet.

i havent touched the code there, ive only made minor modifications to a compleatly diffrent file, im just showing the code lines the error log is referring to, the modifications ive done to the actual code is chang a value or two and add new particle systems, nothing that is even connected with those code lines.

Those errors that your log reports are not necessarily connected with your CTD. Maybe they happened some time before the crash.
The error.log reports any malfunction in the C coded programpart. But many of those errors don't really harm the game.

If a graphical or engine problem crashes your game you won't find any hint in the error.log. Sometimes there are hints in the system or compile log, but sometimes you can find the cause of such a crash only by circumstantial evidence (in what situations does it happen, what did you do before, what skin/ship/weapon did you use). Or by rolling back the latest changes.

what about all the pirates around here? are they all extinct?
personally i would like gold and silver [the shiny stuff! LOL!] as a trade good. it could be found onboard spanish war galleons and pirate ships [especially the big ones!].
 
I really support this idea, Lord Nelson. Could be really realistic AND fun.

By the way, Pieter, you know what version I using, and very rarely but I still get the 'floating mid air' boarding bug, even if Im not loot the dead on boarding.....

After mass hours of stable gameplay I got it when boarded a French warship.

Ships log: 1693 who now when what day:

I set sail with my Corvette in Redmond, towards falais the fleur, to hunt.
After I boarded a Spanish brig, carried her in the ocean onmap, then encountered the frenchies, sunked a french brig, and seconds before I was able to board the warship, they sunk my spanish brig. I started to board the warship, 230-270 men was onboard on her, Ive got only 150-160, but we attacked by only 6-7 men in the first scene, the open deck, I had 6 men, we easily overpowered them, they only had 150-200 health each!!!!!!!!! That was suspicious... Then, when I clicked to go to next deck, the floating in mid air appeared.... So the whole adventure ruined.
Not big problem though, Frog eaters sunk Rys Bloom in my brig, so I really thinked about reload.

I have been using my laptop all week on the road to test the game. Tonight when I tired to start a new game using the 3/25 version on my desktop, the game wouldn't load and I got this error message.

Is that with or without the new ships added to ships_init.c? I believe that was the problem you'd get when taking the new ships out. BTW: You might try taking all new ships out except for the Privateer, because that one is used by the game for some quest characters. That might've caused some trouble.
 
You should just open up ships_init.c and remove the entries above the "do not place ships below this line" and below the Privateer. There are two characters who use the Privateer, Claire Larousse and some other pirate. I'm not at home right now, so I can't check it to be sure. If you can't figure it out, wait for the next update. In a few hours' time, I'll be rid of my final exam for the time being, so I will do everything I can to get a <i>proper</i> new update done as soon as possible. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I need a little help from some modders. CCC, I'm thinking you might be able to put me on the right track here.

I'm working on introducing some new goods to the game, however I haven't quite got this mod up and running yet. So far I've made relevant entries to the following files:

I'm thinking there are some other PROGRAM files to mod. I know Island init determines what goods are imported, exported or contraband on each island, however, I don't want to define that just yet. I'll have to modify the trade book interface for that anyway (maybe that's Maximus' field of expertise). Initially what I want is for the stores to supply these new goods as NORMAL trade goods so I can test a few things. So what makes stores recognise goods for trade?

Well given the Almighty 'Auto Buy' button I guess it would bother noone, but in the stock version it would kind of get tedious selling 26572574274267 different kinds of goods (all in the amount of '1') while capturing every singe ship.

More to the topic, I just installed the update (used only the 'post build' install before, November I belive), but saw no differences in the saved games. Do you have to start a new game? Or what changes should I be seeing?

Tomorrow I am going to do some serious hunting for the cause and solution of the recent CTDs. I'll install the proper 5 March version and then add the new parts to it, testing it after each step. However, to be able to do this quickly, it would be useful to know how to cause those CTDs. So please tell me what kind of actions usually cause that CTD. Then I can perform those actions and see if the CTD is still there. This is not a CTD, but a freeze after selling gear to a merchant and trying to start a new dialogue to sell cargo on Hispanola after a stormy start. 3/25/ file + extreme measures - ships.

Another freeze followed by CTD in the OC shipyard. Even though I did not use the ship.ini file in exreme measures, the White Waller Frigate was present in the ship yard along with other new ships.

Here is my latest CTD this time in the Smuggler's Village Store. It looks like something wierd is going on in the program. For me the CTDs are occuring in shipyards, stores, and when I go to the map to leave an island. Hope this helps.

sorry, you got me on the wrong foot there, never did anything concerning goods or trade. But I think that if you perform a textsearch in the program folder for e.g. "sandal" you should get all files dealing with goods.

There may be a limit for goods, some variable like MAX_GOODS, somewhere.
 
I have tried pretty hard to find the cause of the bug but, so far, have had no luck. I am going to release a temporary update today for you to test. Then we can see if the CTDs are already in there or not yet.

In the final proper update, a new good will be added: Gunpowder. If they are, I'll have to try harder yet to fix them.
