Someone has "helped" me in LAi-events with changing some textstrings, and even added more of them. Another thing: I sort of explode every now & then in Oxbay Port. Checked the "misfire" function, but that´s not for any other guns than the bbuss. Its this no-crewmen-when-boarding thing really bugging me
 
Now I´ve tested the lastest modpack for the first time and there sure are some nice things in it!

But, impossible to buy a new ship in Oxbay.

Worse is I can´t even leave the Port, the fort open fire. This is no bug. The game isn´t playable at all! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

well im sure with tons of leadership you get a crew, but even with low leadership I should get somthing.

after all thats part of the crews job, Id expect leadership to effect how hard the crew fights but there should always be a few men there with you when boarding.

BTW: I feel i should point out that this all worked fine before the last modpack
 
I haven't got the slightest idea why you sometimes do have your full crew with you and sometimes not. It almost seems to happen completely at random! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

To Jack Rackham: Maximus added that code to enable translation of the game by pressing just one button. It seems like somehow something got messed up. Luckily I found out why the text isn't displaying anymore and it is easily fixed. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

At Oxbay port, you are probably being shot at by the new building set cannons that have been added. This will be fixed in the next modpack update.

It isn't possible to buy a new ship at Oxbay? I have had no trouble with that when I tested yesterday. And be sure to either raise French colours or Portuguese colours when leaving port. I could not buy a new ship in oxbay so I sold my lugger first, but then I lost that one too...

I understand the problems with all new things, but the archipelago isn´t safe any longer. Had several game crashes leaving Rdm & leaving a stormystart beach. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

For <b>play balance </b> sake: I´ve said it before & will say it again: What´s the need for all those nice blades when you get a Bosuns choice (Oxbay port) or a Cardinals Guard (first visited beach).

Maximus' way of doing it means to add lines like <i>LanguageConvertString(tmpLangFileID,"Displaytext")</i> and and then adding a line like <i>Displaytext{Displaytext}</i> to the tmpLangFile that is being used (mostly interface_strings.txt in RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\ENGLISH).

I think it shouldn't be possible to find such good blades at the beginning of the game. Unfortunately, the game generates random items completely 100% randomly, so you might encounter very good blades very early in the game. I wished it wasn't so. Would be much better if it wasn't. An idea I have been having for a long time is to add a mod that decreases the quality of the blades over time by using your blade extensively. I really like the idea of that mod and know how it should be made. I just haven't come round to doing it yet. That mod could be made so that if you have a very good blade, but are at a low level, the quality of your blade will quickly decrease, because you don't know how to properly use it. And since you don't have enough personal wealth to pay a blacksmith, your blade will eventually shatter in your hands. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

i really like that idea, it would give blacksmiths some real purpose in the game. you would also be able to personalise swords, like you use your solingen rapier for a while and then you would need to have it repaired, rather than having 3 or 4 excellent solingen rapiers to last all through the game. it would make you feel that your sword is really your sword.

I don't know if this line was remove intentionally (maybe CCC can know something about it) but without it the new build wasn't show when you return to the location.

I have been away for some months and would love to catch my game up. Does the 2/5/06 contain the New Islands mod or is that still separate?

Is there a list of what has been added since the first of the year?
 
a couple more things I noticed....

1. You know the little descriptions that pop up on the world map when you encounter another fleet? well they seem to be a little off. For example; When it says "A small craft flying the colors of whoever" its always a big warship, and a rag-tag group is always a large fleet of atleast a class 1 ship and couple class 2's. Also a fleet of warships is always 1 or 2 small class 6 ships. Anyone else notice this?

2. Also, there seems to be a shortage of ammo, I useally can only find about 3 or 4 pistol balls and only slightly more powder of sale in a town, dispite checking with all the merchents on town.
 
Captain Teck, the idea was that ammo amount should be linked to your rank.

The formula is rank/2 + rand(rank/2) which will give for rank 4:
2 + max 2 etc up to rank 16

If there is a common opinion that this is to low I can raise it (a little) for good .

Or you can do it yourself in PROGRAM/ITEMS/Items_utilite line 2109.

Don't beat yourself up over it. There is nothing weird about that. According to the code, that is supposed to happen:

This is easily rectified by changing "udeck1" to "udeck". I suppose there are several other boarding deck assignments in that file that should also be corrected.
