POTC version check

Just browsing through games and mods today.. been an avid fan of x 3 reunion for the last couple of days. Although not knocking the game but after checking out what the end game can be there im not convinced its -my- type of long game so been looking for other space trading sim and trading sims in general for something to get invloved in.

This Pirates of the Caribbean mod sounds interesting.. Taking a hashed license game (come on they nearly all are, i just dont bat an eye lid when i see them anymore and write them off as under par straight away). But adding in noncasual player content to tiple the more dedicated gamer.

Two questions i wanted to ask really, getting to my point (i just wanted to lay the scene a little).
1. Which version of POTC is this mod for, i checked gamespot and found there's a few sequels etc.. (I assume its for the original?)
2. Does anyone have any games they can reccomend for longevity like x 3, or others gernes like rpg etc that are basically great open ended games (maybe some diamonds in the rough that dont make it past the commercial clatter of EA games and that shaz), i noticed this site has a taste for it with mentions of Age of Pirates a game i never heard of till i came here (also note that Age of Pirates got a low rating by gamespot but users gave it a much higher rating).

That'll do for now. Sorry if question 1. is complete noobish, just gotta check. Any help and advice is much apprciated. Hungry gamer out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

this one is for Pirates of the Caribbean by bethesda and akella. you CAN take a very long time finishing (and playing on after you finished it) this game, but you can also finish it in a reasonably short time if you want. you can basically do anything you'd like.

Sometimes I hust start a new game, ignorethe main story line, and plunder ships as I please. While the main quest is entertaining, it becomes a bit ol after playing it time after time. Which is why some of our fellow pirates are working on adding new content to add to the game.

Yeah which will be AWESOME!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Our Pirates of the Caribbean is the game that was originally known as Sea Dogs II, but was then hyjacked by Disney to accompany the first film's release. It is made by Bethesda and Akella. It's the 2003 game. The other PotC games are specially made to be PotC games, instead of ours, which was just turned into a PotC game at last minute. I think ours is the best game though, because with the mods it's basically just an excellent open-ended role playing game. The other PotC games are just simple hack-n-slash games, for all I know. Age of Pirates is actually the "sequel" to our PotC game (Sea Dogs III). AoP has better graphics than PotC and some new features, but it also has some features missing that WERE in PotC and the Japanese cartoonish style might not be to everyone's liking. I don't like it, that's for sure. I think PotC + modpack is vastly superior to AoP, although I must admit to having never played AoP. We did hyjack some AoP content for our PotC modpack though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Thanks for the info and specifics on game author/developer for esaier tracking down <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I downloaded b14_alpha6.zip from the site about 366mb looked like a nice install of the mod to get it straight up and running from boxed version of stock. but when i run game i get an error msg: <img src="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/kalmtown/hosted/screens/potcmoderror.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Could it be only default install path of the game works with mod or maybe wrong mod install pack was used??

Oh yeah, and i really hope this mod fixes it so that you have one key to run, when i played the stock you have to press walk key then run <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

as for your last question, yes. but i think it might be a tad wiser to install build 13 first and build 13 update 3 after that. build 14 alpha 6 should be installed after that. you should of course follow the instructions.
