Solved POTC questions

Howdy folks while im waiting for a miracle regarding the coas trouble I dug up my old potc disk and loaded it into my pc then I loaded the beta 13 I think it is new horizons and got the installer and it went off without a hitch. I was dam near blown out of me chair when the intro started and thoroughly impressed but I have a few questions I go and select a mission say for example the jack sparrow one and it wont go. the screen turns black and theres some outfit in the upper left hand corner named guy verbinski. I fumbled around and hit the F2 button I believe and it showed me some of his stats and at the top of the page it had several tabs and the X buton in the right hand corner the bad news is I cant do anything else I cant look at the log book or the ship or even put the 1 ability to use. And a few times it did nothing and spit me right back out to the main page. Any help would greatly be appreciated kind sirs and from what ive seen thus far of the POTC beta mod I think its a hell of a good deal!

How about attaching some log files so we can look at them and possibly find out what your problem is besides poor penmanship.

Is that enough or do you need all of the big files aswell? I apologize for my poor penmanship I will do my best to improve

Not sure if this is relevant or not but I just discovered in order for me to view the credits I have to hold my left mouse button down or it goes back to the main menu. Not sure if its suppose to be that way or not but maybe it can provide another clue for fix

All that is needed are the log files and it seems there are a lot of things missing. The most common reasons for the missing items is a bad download or windoze security did not let it fully install.

How did you install the mod?

I used the installer in downloads section under PiratesahoyFTP I will begin removing the program and try again this windows 8 business might have caused a goof. Tks for help kind sirs

Redid everything from scratch and same result. I notice when I click to start it says scanning modules and then it says loading modules 0 I wish I could upload the system file but it says its too big. then regarding resources according to system file it says cant open geometry file then after that it says the device is lost and cannot be restored at the current time, so rendering is not possible. all this is according to system.

Follow this:

• Install original/vanilla/2003 version of PotC (outside program files)
• Download Build 14 Beta 3 Full - Updated: 8 Oct 2013
• Put in a different (not in potc folder) but the same folder like this:
• Run Installer (Point to your main game folder)
• Run and modify
• PLAY!!!!

No luck davyjack same results looks like ill probably have to call it good enough with vanilla coas. And a shame it is this mod version looks to be very fun and well laid out

if you have an intel card problem, check the "intel fix" box during installation

No luck at all. I do want to thank all of you for your patience and help but looks like ill have no choice but to stick with the vanilla version of the game.

How strange. It really should work. I'm tempted to get Win8 just to troubleshoot the problems there.

What hard drive are you installing POTC to? External HDs are known to not work with win8.

No just to saved games in drive C outside of programs

I don't think that's a proven fact, though admittedly I haven't tried this myself, yet. It wouldn't be any worse than Win7 in terms of security getting in the way, I suspect.

Rethinking it, it seems to be external drives in general, at least as far as Pieter is concerned.

True. My dad has had similar problems with an external HD preventing access to certain files that he placed on it, and we've no idea why.

Did you make sure to download both parts and have them in the same folder before installing? I'm not sure if this is the same in Windows 8 but right-click on the installer and click on "run as administrator" and see if that works.
