POTBS big waste of time

DP matey, I can't explain yer serious lag problem cause I have no problems with lags with loading screens or gameplay lags <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> I have read posts by others having this problem and can understand how frustat'n that can be , wish could be of more help with this problem

No worries, even if I would get the lagging issue sorted, I still wouldn't play PotBS yet.
The gameplay issues are more important for me. When I wrote the post, I didn't specify that very well and it sounds as if the lagging issue and the loading screen are the main issues for me.

I did post the same in the PotBS forum, but the post got deleted there. Which is understandable (they don't want negative posts on their forum, it's bad PR).
I think PotBS is far less successful then FLS anticipated. Just look at the amount of servers there are in the US and most of them are empty.
The only decently filled server is the english European one.

Just a little pointer that might help....don't have a disc in your drive...you don't need it to play. I don't get any lag at all so something is wrong there.
According to a post on the forums, the reason there are not that many people playing at the moment is that in numerous countries, like germany, the advertising was virtually zero. This is being rectified as we speak, so hopefully the numbers will settle down a bit higher.
 
Hello all. I have been visting Pirates Ahoy for about 3 years now. Great site ! I have found alot of useful stuff but have never felt the need to speak up till now. I have been playing pirate games since a kid 43 yrs ago and have played just about every pirate game for pc or consoles ( tips hat to Sid Meier) . My first MMO, 6 months ago, was City of Heroes so I do not have much experience with MMOs. I have been playing Pirates of the Burning Sea for a month now. All I can say is this game is AWESOME !!! Its not the perfect game (as if there was such a thing) but its the best pirate game Ive have ever played. True, there are rough edges but the devs. are working quicly. There is a steep learning curve, but if a MMO newbie like me can learn it anyone can. Also the swashbucling system isnt the greatest but most of the games focus is on the sea. If you dont check this game out now you will latter...its that good and its only going to get better.

Quite agree with you mate, This is a fun game but as a pirate you really have to grind to make Doubloons for sure. It's a thrill going through PVP red zones and getting jumped by 3 ur 4 ships, they tend to have a problem though catch'n me Buffed for speed Bermuda Sloop <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

I'm on the antigua server. grab some speed buffs for the sloop for sure, probly the fastest ship in game .Nar uncatchable with speed buffs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />
with skills like Muffled gear and Stealth Sails yer harder to spot by enemy ships as well on Open Sea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I think it is, I'm currently gathering parts for ships with Scavenger skill by boarding ships and scaveging the derelict. so far have received a hull for up to level 25 ship and various other parts like main mast, Nails and such. Also have scavenged various ship deeds req'd to build a ship, When this is done I take the deed and shipwright materials to the Pirate Shipbuilder in Tortuga for assembly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
I never played an online game. I saw this at Wal-Mart and was tempted to buy it because the graphics are so great. Its played in levels?
 
Yep, you do tutoral and missions to level up, I also farm same mission over and over to get drops and gain XP, your level determimes what type of ship you are capable of sailing. Top level is 50. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
We Currently have defections from VOC ...and it seems POTBS must have done something right , because some of the top VCO players are now in POTBS instead of using the item mall fueled Avatars they own on the VCO server ...its a big investment in time and money to walk away from .

I have been hearing some good words on the game from people I know for a while ...so it looks like I may need to find out for myself how its changed from the beta version I didn't much care for .

been around POTBS from the beginning and was also a member of Sealords and still a member.POTBS is the best sailing and pirate game out there now.Try it out before you trash it .its not for everyone and not perfect but AOSII was far from perfect also.
 
Aye, the game is wurth play'n once ye get pass the lean'n curve, really starts get'n fun ininterst'n around level 23-24. Pirate with Dirty Fighting skills and the sword given to ye from Captain Kid is a blast, Once you learn skill combo's and when to use them .
Just beat the Dirty Fighter Master an two of his Cronnies at Golden Lake and did it Solo, What a Fight!
With 8 Health left the Dirty Fighter Master had 3 left and he surrenderd <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> He taught me well.
After kill'n his two cronny's, it was just him an me, one on one. Threw sand, elbowed him in the face, used every dirty trick in the book an some that wern't <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Appears to be 50 is the magic number, although I've seen level 52 NPC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
