Pirates! website shutdown

<div>I got this from the other heavenly king of Pirates! fansites, <a href="http://www.addictedtopirates.com/" target="_blank"><strong><font color="#0000ff">Addicted to Pirates!</font></strong></a> where <strong>KriFos</strong> comes out of retirement for this most unfortunate bit of news.&nbsp; Atari has finally taken down its official Pirates website so if you goto say<a href="http://www.pirates2.com/"><strong> www.pirates2.com</strong></a> you now get sent straight to the Atari main site.&nbsp; As KriFos mentioned this is rather bad for us fansites who get a portion of their traffic from there, no where near as much as before, not good though nonetheless.&nbsp; Hopefully <a href="http://www.2kgames.com/" target="_blank">Take2</a> will add a official page with links to us all again.. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /></div>

Surprised that something that small wasn't in the buyout agreement by Take2.

Like paying Atari to host the official site so that the links on the existing disks would point somewhere!

If only to a re-direct page linking directly to a Take2 site!

This does not bode well for the Pirates! community.
Many Angry customers with no place to contact!

Well, as you say Keith, hopefully Take2 will pick up the reins and get going on this... Especially with the console version coming out soon. Have you contacted Take2 on this?

It is a fun game! I like it very much - but I got so burned out on it when betatesting and then playing in the first flurry of activity when the gold version was released... Arghh!!! I was quite angry when I kept on visiting the site and I got redirected to some Atari corporate webcast. I hope they bring the site back up because I am considering purchasing this game after I get POTC. BTW, I ordered POTC so it should be here when I get back from Europe in 2 weeks.
