That's almost certainly a native word, or collection of them, and follows the standard policy of grabbing some local, pointing at a landmark and asking him what it is. Which means there are any number of lakes around the world whose name, translated from the original language, means "It's a lake", "Your finger", or "Who is this moron that does not know what a lake is?"
