Discussion New Horizons Promotion

That will apparently let me add an entry into the main page. But walkthroughs seem to each have their own folder, e.g. the line for "Hornblower" contains a link to "wiki/chronicles-of-horatio-hornblower-walkthrough/". How do I create one for "Ardent"?

I think the way it works is that you add a link on that main page.
Then when you press that link, it leads to a non-existent page and when you "edit" that one, you've created it.

Bit weird to work like that, but that's Wiki's for you.

Just something fun here....

For the past 1.5 years, I have virtually not touched Facebook nor posted updates to our PiratesAhoy! Facebook page.
And ever since @Red Back Dude has become too busy, noobdy else has been doing it either.
In other words: Activity there has been positively dead for a LONG time.

Then last weekend, to coincide with the Beta 4 public release, I posted the trailer to Facebook.
Some people commented on it and I responded to them in return.

Effect on Weekly Total Reach:
Previous Week: 10
Last Week: 1.18k
Trend: 11,710.0%

In other words: Having some activity on our Facebook page DOES have a very real effect! :rofl

Yes, that seems to have worked. I've yet to add formatting and links, but see how you like this:

@Pieter Boelen
Becoming an admin on FB seems not to have helped.

When I try again it tells me it can be 1 out of three things.

1 - He is blocked (which is not the case)
2 - That I don't have the rights to post (which should not be the case)
3 - That he has left the conversation, which seems to be the only plausible reason...

Maybe I can send you the reply and you can try as well?

To start a new page on the Wiki

1 – Log In to Pirates Ahoy

2 – Select the Wiki – then Select Create New Page - See Image 1

3 – On the Create New Page Form - see Image 2

3a – Fill in the Page Title – the Link URL is generated automatically

3b – Data Type - choose BB or HTML

3c – For HTML use the starting & finishing lines of code ( everything should go between these two ) – See Image 2

You can check what the page looks like as you go by using the PREVIEW Button.

To SAVE the Page use the CREATE NEW PAGE button - you can go back and edit the page at any time.

PARENT NODE :- This automatically makes the page a sub-page of another page See List ( Image 3 )

To edit a page - select the page and click on the locked tab at the top of the page - the Edit Page Form will appear - looks and is used the same as the Create Page form

ALL Pages automatically appear on the PAGE LIST page

There is A TEST PAGE – that can be used to try things out on and generally test things.

To Put a link to another Wiki page in the text of a Wiki Page use this code

<a href="wiki/ PAGE URL -see edit Page screen for this /" > type text to appear </a>

Does anyone have any good screenshots of the new Turks? I'll be needing some....

Do you have any idea why your screenshots generally have some sort of "washed out" colours going on?
I edited them. On my computer the screenshots was very dark. I could let the edit out next time I post some shots.

If you prefer it like this, I will remember it next time to take a shot.
So no edit at all?

Personally I like the "tampered" ones better :)

All though the non-edited ones look like it does in game, the edited ones look far more dramatic and realistic in light, saturation and color.

The edited ones will probably serve you better promotion wise than the non edited ones.

Just something to think about ;)

They look a bit "overexposed" to me.
And for those people who like that look, isn't it false advertising if it doesn't actually look like that in the game?

I would not worry about it being falsifying - as you can easily enough have tweaked your colors to such a look on your game - hence it could easily just be the setup of the owner who took the pics.

Besides - people accept that pictures have been somewhat tweaked for promotion.

In most cases of getting people's attention you have to exaggerate just slightly to make them perceive it as normal.

It just makes the pictures more interesting to look at - in the absence of being in game and experiencing it with all other elements a picture cannot portray, such as sound and environment which can trigger other aspects of your imagination such as smell and earthly elements as wind, temperature and rain/moist

I'll keep it in mind and see which pictures fit best.
Thanks for the suggestion! :cheers
