N00bie needs some help playing dutch or pirate

Hi everyone,

Im new to the POTC mod.
Didnt play POTC a long time because the original game did get kinda boring.
Love the mod so far (build 13, first time i try the mod)
But i got a problem playing how i want...

I wanna play as dutch because im dutch myself... so im starting in douwesen.
No prob.. i make a little money, board some ships and swap mine for something better...
But now i would like to start the main quest.. (or play any other)
That requires me to sail to oxbay?
(i heard i need to go near oxbay to trigger a movie and start the mainquest)

But how can i do it?
When i go to oxbay and want to dock in the harbor i get shot to pieces by the local ships, fort etc.
Everything is hostile to the dutch...

I also started as pirate but then i got the same problem...
If everything hostile... how do u do the quests?

Sorry if its asked before but im browsing/searching the forums for 2/3 days now.. couldnt find anything related to my question.. so i thought lets register and ask.

If you started the game anywhere else but Oxbay, sailing near the
island should trigger the mainquest! You don't sail into Oxbay Port

you could always try to sneak into the town by anchoring at a remote beach. i'm going to join the pirates when i've finished the main quest, so i'll try and see if i can survive for as long as i want in such a hostile world.

Raise a Portugese flag. You can sail just about anywhere under those colors. Even if you are Dutch, you can raise flags of other countries to slip into ports unnoticed.

If you fly a Duch flag, everyone will think you're Dutch. The English don't like the Dutch, so if you want to play the main quest, which is mostly English, you shouldn't fly a Dutch flag. Go into the Relations screen and raise your own flag instead. Or raise a Portuguese flag. You can change your flag whenever you like during the game, so fly a flag of a nation friendly to England when you want to enter an English port, then raise your Dutch flag again when you are outside the fort's range. Keep in mind though that if you fly false colours, you might be recognized as being who you are, with the result that you are attacked anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

You can also raise your own flag. At the start of the game you are personally only hostile to the pirates and to the French, so you can play the main quest just fine that way AND sail into any Dutch ports as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
