Multiplayer?

@Bartolomeu o Portugues mentioned wanting to try AoS 2: PB, and the multiplayer that at least used to be available.
Does the official multiplayer work, or is there a mod that works? If not, would such a mod be possible?
I haven't played the game myself, so I can't answer. But perhaps @Martes can instead.

Works over LAN, by IP.

There are LAN emulators, I think, that can bridge computers over internet, but I never tried one.

Multiplayer allows players on both sides, you can assign ships from one side to several players, unassigned ships go under AI.
I noticed some degree of friendly fire in mixed team (player+AI, AI may not think player ship as a legitimate obstacle if it sees enemy behind and unleash a broadside), and there is, obviously, no option to change time compression or pause.

Had to google it, but seems so.

Note that multiplayer does require having a scenario with prepositioned ships, it does not create an engagement on the fly.
