Multiplayer?

For some reason my thoughts still drift back to multiplayer, even if it was not popular its been the only Akella game to date in the series to have it.
Always wondered if multiplayer was hardcoded or if modded ships were possible.

Alas the German Edition mod team achieved multi-player for their version of COAS called MOTCS (Men of the Caribbean Sea), however they have never revealed how they did it. Someone does have to host it. One of their main guys hosted their multi-player capability.

So we know it can be done, just not how its done. If we had some good coders still hanging about that could look through the German Edition, maybe we could figure it out.
