Mouse not appearing

Hi everyone so I just got the game from torrent. I used daemon tools lite and mounted the cd to start the installer. Ok, the game installed and worked in the startup menu. However, whenever i try to start a new game it loads in the ship with Nathanael but there is no mouse. Everything else appears normal except that when Malcolm Thatcher comes in to speak with me i cant click or navigate to respond back. Basically, i cant select the thing to say to him. So like that i can't progress the game, and that means i cant play it. I never played a new game before so it is the first time. please help someone who has had this problem, because i want to play the game like i did in the old times but i cant for this reason.

Oh yes, and it is the vanilla version no mods are added to my knowledge, i just got it like that. 2.49 gb file. I use windows 7 64-bit, Vaio VGN, to be specific. Thanks for helps

maybe i am missing a file, i don't know i am new to this.

You want to use the mouse in the DIALOG interface, right? Use Up/Down to select the option you want, then press Space to continue.
There is no mouse functionality in there. Check the controls in the Options menu.
