Fixed Mooring locator for Cape Francos is a long way from land

This is where you need to be to moor at Cape Francos, Hispaniola:

If you sail any closer to shore, you miss the locator and can't moor. The angle of the screenshot is a bit deceptive. If your ship is on top of the pale area indicating shallow water, you're too close; you need to be over the deep, bluer water to have any chance of mooring.

I'll mark that as Confirmed. Now the big question is: Who would be up for moving that locator?
It's not technically difficult, but may require some trial-and-error.

Ayup. This will mess up a new player but I cruise along off shore from the white bottom and hit it. It has been like this for as long as I can remember.

It has probably been like that literally forever, since I doubt anyone deliberately moved it further seaward. ;)

Thanks to your tip about copying locators into the main GM file so you can see where they are in "GMViewer", this was made a lot easier. The fact that Hispaniola is named "Gaity" for locator purposes did not help! Anyway, try this:

Very awesome! Thanks for doing this.

Also glad my suggestion proved helpful. :doff

Yes. There's a reason why I took an interest in Cape Francos... I'm not quite as close in-shore as I was expecting but at least I'm over the lighter patch which means I'm mooring over relatively shallow water, and if it's possible to sail close enough to the beach that you can pass Cape Francos without triggering the mooring icon then I never managed it. :D

Fixed then! :dance

Reload locator '' in current location not found!
This message appears when you go from worldmap to direct sail at Cape Francos.
You are stuck and can go further on in the game.

That text is related to this bug: Low Priority - Stuck At Sea When Assaulted During Mooring | PiratesAhoy!
It doesn't happen often, so every time I change anything to try and fix it, it takes half a year to find out if it had any effect.

This message appears when you go from worldmap to direct sail at Cape Francos.
But that message should happen when you go from 3D Sailing Mode to Shore.
So that is very confusing....

You are stuck and can go further on in the game.
I think there may be a word missing from your sentence.
Either you are stuck and can NOT go further or you are NOT stuck and can go further.
But which of the two is it....? o_O

Based on the compile.log, it says that "current_location" is nothing at all.
Which doesn't make sense either, because your current location should be an island ID of some kind if you're at Cape Francos.

Are you able to reproduce this bug?

Isn't this the locator that @Grey Roger moved? That shouldn't actually have anything to do with this though. :facepalm

Strange. I moved the locator for Cape Francos inward a bit because the mooring point was way out to sea, then tested it by sailing there.

This is the old version of the locator file. Put it into "RESOURCE\MODELS\Islands\Gaity" and the original locator should be restored. (I don't know why Hispaniola is called "Gaity" for game purposes, but it is.) If that fixes it, someone who knows more about locators than me can figure out how to move it properly.

Thats me again: I was going from 3D sailing mode to shore.

I tried it out and it did not make any difference. Still same message.

Does that mean you were trying to continue with this update using a savegame from a previous version? If so, could you try putting back the version of the locator file included in this post, then start a new game and see if you get the same problem? (It's the same version of the locator file as went into the update.)

Admittedly I didn't check going from worldmap to Cape Francos after moving the locator. Cape Francos is significant to a part of the storyline I'm developing, but first you'd go to Santo Domingo, after which during the test run I direct-sailed to Cape Francos without any trouble. But I've done the worldmap test now. The quickest way to get from new game to Cape Francos is to start as a Spanish corsair, which puts you at San Juan, then it's a short trip to Hispaniola. So also attached to this post is my savegame after doing that, from which I can go to 3D sailing, putting me right at Cape Francos with the mooring icon straight away.

Maybe I know what is going on.... unlike shore location locators, we found that island model locators are initialized AT GAME START for some reason.
I ran into that same problem when @Jack Rackham was turning the Puerto Rico port locator around to face towards the sea instead of the other way.

So probably @Grey Roger's changed locator file is perfectly fine; but a new game is required for it to work properly. I'm not sure if even a Reinit would suffice.

Then maybe @ANSEL's problem is because the game THINKS the locator is still in the old spot, but actually IS in the new spot.
And that mismatch is the cause of this weirdness.

In that case, there isn't actually a real problem that needs fixing; I'll just need to enforce a new game again some time soon.

Im almost and just almost sure I started a new game after the latest update.
So to be 100% sure I will start a new game again.
