Now that I know enough I have been cheking for updates to the modpack. I got the one from 28th and saw a lot of tixes as well as new features. Then I noticed today 29th there is another update. You are very busy with this. Thanks

A couple of questions, are these updates fixing bugs or adding new features or both. Does each update require a new game?

Also Pieter would like me to let you know if I find anomolies in the game and if so do you want them posted or PM.

That's because Nathan is working hard on fixing bugs and I'm putting up a new update with his changed code as soon as I can. Which ends up being about one every day lately. So Nathan sure is being busy. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

They're mostly bugfixes, but there might also be the occasional new feature. I don't know if every update requires a new game really. I reckon it's safer to start a new game, but you might try using an older savegame and pressing "I" to reinitialize once it's loaded. If you were running a reasonably recent modpack version before the update, I reckon you might not have to start a new game.

Please post all bugs/anomalies you might find on the forum so everyone will know what isn't working properly yet. If possible, please post it in either the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=5586&st=60" target="_blank">Post Build 12 Modpack (PotCMods.zip)</a> or <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=4322&st=440" target="_blank">Few minor modifications/additions/'bug-fixes' for PotC</a> thread.

We're both being busy, Pieter no less. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Jason--absolutely, post anything you find, and with our thanks!
Regarding newgame: as long as you started a new game with the modpack-in-its-current-form (that is, anything since Pieter put in the pre13 features)--and per what you said in previous thread then yes you have it--then you should not need to restart again period (at least until build 13). In fact, not even then--because the mp's arrays are already sized to match 13.
In fact...
Actually, /always/ try to continue your old game (load, reinit, save), and tell us if it doesn't work. I'm still not very sure on what (other than resizing arrays) causes the need to restart, so I'd love more info.

Pieter and NK:

Here are things I have noticed in the Modpack dated June 29.

1. Boarding is much more difficult which is probably intentional.

2. Blades appear to be returned to the weapons locker, armour and firearms do not.

3. The enemies in boarding, jungle and streets seem to have daggers most of the time which is differnt from the builds and the previous modpack I was using.

4. I saw a hanging (in mid air) dagger in Redmond.

5. The prices for personal items seem quite high. A musketton is over 20,000 and the good top level blades are at or above that.

Hope this helps.

Interesting. There was a Build 11 (or 10.1?) problem similar to that, but that was with a pistol. Where is it located? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

This is due to faulty locators on a character. It ends up suspended in the absolute centre of the area you currently are in.

It is mostly female characters, and moreso the ones with skirts, but it also exists in some of the male models.

I have tried to fix it, but I have had little success so far. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

So, that dagger/pistol is actually mine, but got displaced by the computer? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

Only yours if you don't see them at your belt... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Or if your officers got some and they aren't there at their belts... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Not sure if it happens if an NPC got weapons, but quite possibly. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

It is because the locators (for sword and gun, both in belt and hand) are not set, thus they are zero... And zero is, apparently, in the absolute centre. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Somehow the skirted ladies are either messed up when trying to apply the correct locators, or they never did behave very well at all when they are running/fencing. I must say I never did test it that much before I tried the ones I attempted to correct... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Maybe not even the original ladies with skirts can run et cetera, without more or less defects?

Does not seems to according to my preliminary tests... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> All,

Pieter / Nathan.

I couldn't find the testing thread for the Post 12 build mod so I thought I'd throw it in here.

I am testing the post 12 mod from pieter's page the latest full one at the top of the page.

I love the Cannon settings change <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> Thanks for the addition.

I have found 1 new bug and an old one not fixed. I can't get any store missions. When I talk to the store keeper it hangs the game and I have to hard reboot. Also i can only ransome some of the captured catpains. i have set the ransome point to Tavern but i can only ramsome the nationality of the sland i am on. This has been set off in build settings. i have treid setting the location to all but it does the same thing.

Otherwise everthing else is fine and stable. Although I was dealing with the smugglers on Dowessen, when a whole bunch of Nathaniel hawks ran up instead of the Soldiers. The convo dialogs was for the soldiers though. is this a glitch or a legitmate change? Maybe the Prof at the light house has perfected Cloning <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Any hoo I'm off for some more testing I'll let you know hwo things go.

Stay safe all!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

I will post this here for want of starting a new thread on a small note... Just thinking out loud about the armor in the game, the armor as items. It all works great and the trade-off of some fighting ability for protection is great; I would just like to change the interface pictures and names of the armour and their descriptions. I don't like how the bright green cowl and knight's armor inventory pics look, and they don't really look like something that would fit under your clothes (which must be the case since equipping them doesn't change your model's look at all).

Unless anyone is awfully attached to them I would like to change the images and descriptions, maybe tweak the armor classes a tiny bit because of what I have in mind: Under their shirts fencers wear this neat half-shirt and sleeve type armor called a plastron, which would provide mild protection (from swords, not guns) without hindering movement; a proper cuirass, really just a breastplate, would hinder fighting a little but at least give some gunfire protection. Could maybe come in leather and steel varieties. Whatcha think?

I think it wouldbe great to have better armor pictures. The current ones really don't look like the armor in the game.
BTW: On some models, the armor does show. Try equipping armor on, say, Depp or Blaze and you will see the armor on the model. This could theoretically be made to work for all models, but we'll need armored versions of all models for that. Lots of work... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Oh that's right, I think those armored models were from the A&M thing; they did Cptn Barbossa too. But were they the ones who made the interface pictures and the way the armor works or does that go back to one of the builds?

Those pics are really early Build or they are from stock Potc - don't recall precisely which, they might have been from stock but not enabled until modders dug it out of the code. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Since you're talking about the armor pictures again: In the current modpack version, I replaced the armor pictures with the ones from the A&M Mod, which <i>do</i> look like the ones in-game. Hope that's an improvement. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Got the new update but haven't restarted yet. Armor pix look good, though. Thanks, Pieter. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
