Mod: A few PotC ships I added to AoP

<b>Edit : May 22, 6 more additional ships for the game added.</b>

I've uploaded another file, 56 mb's, to filefront containing 6 more models from the PotC builds 13 and 14 mod into AoP. Also I've discovered how to add the ships F2 and shipyard sidebar pictures into the game.

All added ships have own screenshot pic and also some more battle sound effects. Still haven't figured out the sailorpoints unfortunately.

The models from PotC are:

1) Black hulled 100 gun 1st Rate SoL
2) Another schooner with US hull colours, 22 guns
3) A large, heavily armed pinnace merchant, 54 guns
4) Light frigate, 32 guns
5) Very large black hulled privateers corvette with 32 guns
6) Black n buff frigate with 42 guns

Added 2 missing textures for the Blackpearl and Surpise from previous large upload.

Just extract to a working folder and copy and paste the Program and Resource folders over your own.

Thanks to the work from the community here I took it upon myself to add 10 ships to Cyberop's Supermod version 5. Also included with that are Thomas the Terror's Blackpearl mod and RN_brig mods.
Big thanks to ya's and hopefully its ok with the potc modders to include their models here.

I simply added them to AoP, without sailor models as I dont have the sailorspoints for them. On my machine the textures don't look too bad and it's nice to have a selection of ships.

I also added my own custom cannon sounds for all weight versions (8-36LB+fort cannons), some new sound effects for
ship to ship battles ( bombs , chain, grape and ball impacts on hulls+sails), increased the minimum wind speed in-game a bit and tweaked the sounds alias to show the new effects.

If anyone knows how to obtain the sailorspoints for the potc models please post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

To install, unzip to a working folder and simply copy+paste the files into your C:/Prog/Playlogic/folder
You need to be using Cyberop's Super-Mod , update 5, for this to work.

Edit: Also the Blackpearl texture file needs to be added, extract and copy-paste over your /playlogic/resource folder here:

Sounds awesome. I just started playing AOP again (got bored with the other games in my daily play) and am looking forward to the supermod including the extra ships, can't wait to see the ones you added...

Oh not to take the subject off your adds but I mentioned it in the other forum on the site, do you by chance know where I can download the "Supermod" and it's updates by chance? Haven't played the game with them before and think the change might be a treat. Thanks.
 
Two notes: <b>Thomas the Terror</b> merely converted <i>Black Pearl</i> to AoP. I made her.
Also, you're using absolete model for 74_gun - we use newer, better model. Also made by me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The Black Pearl lacks textures on deck and guns, and guns on Amsterdam are somewhat chipped too.

Nice first post, welcome to the forums. I indeed forgot to include one texture file for the Blackpearl's deck and guns from Thomas's mod. It's on my webpage pending approval for download, nice catch, thanks!

As for the "chipped guns" in 1st person view on the Amsterdam, you'll have to take that up with the PoTC modder who created the model. I simply added them to the game and included some new sounds.
 
Hey Cap. thought I would ask you since you seem to be fairly active about the forums. Downloaded the Supermod and all the updates and loving just about everything. Ships are great and all the new little perks but there is one little problem i wanted to ask about...

I hire a couple mates (officers) and head out to do a little pirate hunting to make a quick few bucks and for some reason after I board and try to capture their ship I never can. The swapship icon is available but the captureship isn't. I tried all kind of things in game to make sure I wasn't crazy. Is this a bug? If so how would I go about fixing it? It only happens with the supermod installed.

WHAHAHAHA...erhm, sorry. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> nevermind that. anyway, i think it has something to do with your tactics skill, for what i've heard. you can only command an extra ship for every two points, i think. although i'm not sure. i don't have the game. but i do remember something like that being true.
 
Should of mentioned that among my details of the problem. My tactic's skills is 4 thus allowing me to take 2 extra ships. I plan on starting out the game capturing ships as a prime means of profit. Yet even with a tatics of 4 I still encounter the problem.

I just did some in-game testing to confirm, but you have to not only have enough free officers ( as you did) but also your <i>inner </i>Tactics number on your skills screen has to be high enough for the extra ships.

Four = another extra ship, then six etc. You cant reach the higher tactics skill ( 8+ unless your own character is high enough "rank" or its "bumped" by an officer with a decent tactics skill. So you can't capture enemy ships as booty etc. unless you have the free ship slot. Glad your enjoying the game more by the way...

The Blackpearl texture file for the deck and guns is there now , just simply extract, copy n paste the resource folder over the /playlogic/resource folder.

The tactic 4 means that you can only caommand 2 ships, your inclused. and one price, also you got to have a spare unasigned officer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I've finally figured out how to add the ships pictures to the scrolling sidebars in the F2 and shipyards screens and have that completed.

I've also added 6 more ships from the PotC build mods including the new picture textures and one missing ( the Surprise masts-model texture), some more battle sounds and I'll give a download link with a more detailed description soon.

Question - Would you guys rather see one large download ( 140 megs or so) with everything in it i've tweaked or broken down into smaller ones?
 
it depends on the stuff itself. if there are things among them that i don't like, i could leave them out for example. it would be easier to download little bits, but i think that it could cause problems if you are missing one piece, for example. but only if they depend on each other, of course. still, i would prefer one big download, although it would mean a long wait until i finally have it.

it won't take long before PotC doesn't fit on my D drive anymore altogether. it already takes up nearly 80%.

I have installed your mod and looked around new ships.

Btw, May I ask you something?
I wonder How I can remove the BIG national flag at the stern.
It's not bad in a distant view but it has a bad picture in a close view.
so I want to increase the quailty or remove the flag.

Install Age of Pirates to your hard drive from your disk but don't patch it. Remove the disk. Then follow these steps:

1) <a href="http://www.galaxyproductions.net/downloads/aopsupermod.html" target="_blank">Supermod for AoP version 1 - 5 download link</a>

- download Cyberop's main v 1.0 mod plus all his 5 updates.

2) Follow his install instructions, the first is an executable, the rest are simply extracting his files and then copy and paste them into your main /Programs/Playlogic folder

then

3) Download my mods, Playlogic, Resource, and the 6 extra ships. Extract the Playlogic <b></b>first<b></b>, copy the program and resource folders over your own in /Programs/Playlogic/Age of Pirates-carribean tales/ and again copy and paste each Program and resource folder from the downloads into there.
 
Hello,

I followed all the intructions, the mod works. However, the skins for all the ships are screwy. Cannons do not have their skins, they are showing up on the hull at vertical faces. Also, the model for the Surprise doesn't match the screen shot at all, the Amsterdam model has rigging that doesn't reach the flanks of the ship. Lastly, the 74 and the surprice actual model seems out of whack because the crew on deck is walking on air. Any idea on how to fix this? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

To start, as I have already said in this thread, the cannons and the models are from the PoTC . If you have issues with the models, take it up with them!

The screenshot is that of the Amsterdam, not the Surprise, correct. I can fix that if you want.........*shrug*.

As for the crew on the deck not matching, go into /Resource/Models/Sailorspoints folder and delete the matching sailorspoint file and you wont see crew on that ship. As I said previously, I dont have the sailorpoints for the PotC ships. I did try and experiment to see if some matched somewhat but had forgotten to remove them from the upload.
