I have been trying to track down as much information about this film as I can since it's Dutch release. It appears that this film will indeed get a theatrical release in the US after all! I have not seen an official press release on this, but after doing a bit of searching, I did run across this post on Twitchfilm.com form back in June 2015 that I missed then.
Part of that information was also listed on the films official page in June, I missed it there as well. However, it gives no date and simply states “early 2016.” I was looking around this morning and came across a bit of new information on this film, the IMDB movie page now says that it will be in theaters in the US on February 11'th 2016! There is also a listing now on the US movie ticket retailer Fandango under the title “Admiral,” but the listing has absolutely zero information and appears to simply be a placeholder. I have no clue how widespread a release it will be. It does however appear that they have dropped the “Command and Conquer.” moniker that was attached to the UK release of the film.
Known on it's native soil by the name of its titular character Michiel De Ruyter, the Dutch historical epic film by Roel Reiné has been picked up for North American distribution by XLrator Media on their Turbo label. Here in North America it will be simply known as Admiral because I am sure that no one wants to piss off the Dutch by pronouncing De Ruyter's name wrong.
