Last night I was wondering whether or not it would be possible to take a Counter-Terrorist model from Counter-Strike: Source, open it in 3ds max, save it as a vrml, and then convert it to a gm model using TOOL.
I think it would be humorous to be running around the Caribbean in Desert camo.
And the way I look at it, if it's alright to add those stupid Beatrice and Blaze anime models, why not something modern and realistic?!
Anyways, Source models are saved as .mdl, and I'm going to ask around at a Half Life 2 forum for ways to open .mdl files in 3ds max (people do it all the time, so it must be possible). I know that it's somehow possible to convert 3ds max files to .vrml (like the documentation for the TOOL says), and since the Source models are ragdolls, I bet it would be possible to make them use the PotC skeleton (isn't there some option in TOOL for that?)
So, if anybody wants to help me out with this, that would be great.
I'm downloading the trial copy of 3ds max.
