Mendoza, Raymondo, and Montalban's routes REVEALED!

This little tidbit may help those of you who go after the three main villians often.

Mendoza, Montalban, and Raymondo ALWAYS travel to Spanish cities unless there is no other option (if there is no other option, I think they go to French ones, not confirmed). Thus, if you `re-nationalize` all but two Spanish cities, the three baddies will just sail there back and forth for all eternity until you attack them.

I was tracking Raymondo for the final piece to my grandfather having only two `sea-accessable` Spanish cities to sack- Saint Augestine and Cartagena. Raymondo was traveling- get this- to Cartagena from Saint Augestine. I went to Cartagena, sacked it (not well enough to get a new governor), and the bartender informed me that he was going back to Saint Augestine, the only other `sea-accessable` Spanish city.

What to do with this information, you ask? Well, I would leave two Spanish cities very close to each other, say, Puerto Bello and Nombre de Dios. Whenever you need to rescue a daughter/get a family member map piece/get a Montalban's hideout map piece just sail down and you'll see the big ol' galleons traveling back and forth between those two cities.

What level difficulty are you playing at? I'm on Rogue and find it hard to keep those Spaniards from taking back cities I've taken and set up a new gov. in - and that's even after my escorting a NEW gov there, then the influx of new immigrants AND a seeds... They just keep coming back!

I think my problem may be that I took cities like Maricaibo and Rio de la Hacha - and there are other Spanish cities surrounding them, because I have the whole Honduras peninsula French and keeping THAT French has been no trouble at all... Did you have a specific pattern you followed?

Good observation.

I have kicked out the Spanish from my game (even the landlocked cities), I'll try to keep an eye out where they may be going to.

Cat,
I've run into the same thing, but always find the Spanish haven't held it long enought to reinforce, so I just retake it. I have noticed the invasion forces don't seem to travel far, though, so I'd suggest sacking them all.

Catalina, that guy was at Journeyman, so it was relatively easy to fight the invasion forces, figure out where they were coming from, and keep that place isolated.

I think that invasion forces generally come out of places with troops to spare (two things on their fort or more) so that might help.

That would be Mendoza, Gurluas... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />
