SoFS seems to be a real nice compromise, with some very cool features, like additional item slots and stuff. And overall, I like the capabilities that 2.5 has over the 2.0 engine.
More feature rich with as you stated, a lot of potential for prettying up.

If you change the Sky.Dir values in WhrSetAzmAng.c in /Weather/Init to use the default directories and do the same with WhrInitValues.c also in /Weather/Init it should work. I modified several of the textures though, to get better skies for dawn and dusk and a couple night skies as well. Also there are a couple original PotC textures used that have been modified, so it is no longer simply a copy of the textures from AoP.
