Right now I'm working on Malcolm's character and making some adjustment. As you people notice Malcolm is the one doing the tutorial with you at the beginning of the game. (not hard to figure it out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="razz.gif" /> )
So in other words Malcolm's job is to familiarize the new player about the concept of the game.
So far Malcolm explain those to the player;
- tells you how chest work
- tells you how to use and equip your equipment
- tells you about your weapons locker and how it work
- tells you how to fence and use pistol
- tells you about your levling up, skills and abillities(for auto-skill or not)
- he show you how to get stuff from merchant
- he show you how to use the store
- he show you how to use the tavern
- he show you how to use the shipyard
This covert a lot of area, but is it enought?
Should we adjust Malcolm to explain more to the people. Hook mention the other day that adding the way that the salary work to Malcolm dialog will be a good idea and he is right. What about adding those a well;
- explain how salary works (done)
- explain how moral works (done)
- explain how direct-sailling works (done)
- explain how flags work (done)
Those 4 criteria as been add into Malcolm dialog and will be in patch 4 when it come's out. Malcolm will explain them at the end of the tutorial once you leave the shipyard. If later on you need some info about it, you still can come back to Oxbay and ask Malcolm at the tavern.
What you guys think of this. Is there anything we should add or modify to help Malcolm so he can help the new player enjoying the game?
