Yawn...gday mates!
What's this, a guide to the games?
Yes COAS is better than POTC graphically if you can ignore the clouds racing by at hurricane speeds, the sun over there in the dark side of the sky while the bright side of the sky is over here, the floating islands, no direct sail, and the ships jerking around like mechanical rides at the county fair. POTC has very dated graphics but everything works as it should.
Crashes? Both games will crash if the weak engine is overloaded with too many large ships. Therefore I play smaller ships and have a crash free experience in both games. COAS is a game that seems to get progressively harder as you advance so eventually you will be forced into game breaking huge battles. That is where I quit and start over. When a storyline in POTC forces me to play a large battle I just live with the crashes until I get past the bad spot.
About storylines, COAS has many side quests but no main storyline, and their common feature is that they are pleasant until they are suddenly impossible. When that happens I just shrugged and sailed away. POTC has many storylines with a lot of side quests that are well balanced so there is no impossible wall to run into.
Just my opinion.
