"Корсары 4" (Corsairs 4) already in developing

<!--quoteo(post=312135:date=Apr 10 2009, 05:16 AM:name=Cap'n_Drow)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Cap'n_Drow @ Apr 10 2009, 05:16 AM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=312135"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->**"To corsair - corsair's wishes"(paraphrase of Russian idiom "To Caesar - Caesar's wishes")**Haven’t been able to find a good alternate

The games main character will be a young British officer following an alternate history where he just arrives in Port Royal in 1692 shortly after the passing of the great Henry Morgan. **supervise effectively the tsunami, coupled with the earthquake, which sent to the sea devil Several thousand pirates and immerse more part of the island in the warm Caribbean waters (history, among other things, the fact). There is flying heels and shocked hero whose ship topple a huge wave. ** This stuff between the asterisks does not make very solid sense

** Just not sure how to go with this section just now – Cap’n Drow
Technologically Le Corsaire 4 "are based on cross-platform engine Gamebryo, which nanizana a lot of purchase (PhysX, SpeedTree), and their inputs. His modernization of the needs of Seaword studio is "artichoke" (do not remember the Lada Racing Club - to the Engine, which is meanness saw the light, krasnodartsy bear no relation), trying to grafmotor looked dignified and in a few years.

The latter is particularly relevant for two reasons. First, developers expect that, after the Russian release, the game will be released in the West (including, probably, on consoles, and is likely to simplistic gameplay for less hardkornoy the public) and should not look worse tamoshnih competitors. And, secondly, to develop, launched in February, will be completed no earlier than the autumn of 2010.
**<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The first detached paragraph came from The Gospel:
<i> "21 They say to him: Caesar's. Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.
22 And hearing this they wondered, and leaving him, went their ways."
(from St. Matthew)</i>

In Russian that phrase remain as an idiom, which means that every man gotta do what he really can do best. The sence is not the same which was in The Gospel, but that is there.
If you may find a good alternative to this idiom please do it. My English is very limited.

The next one can be translated as:

<i><b> The games main character will be a young British officer who arrived in Port Royal in 1692 shortly after the passing of Henry Morgan and with the mission from him. That officer watched the striking tsunami which caused by the earthquake. It has sent several thousand pirates to the devil of the sea and drown most of the islands in warm waters of the Caribbean Sea (the story, among other things, is a fact). And the shocked hero goes with them all together, because his ship also was overturned by a huge wave.</b></i>

The last one some slangy and not so easy to translate... Someting like that, i think:

<i><b>Technologically the Corsairs 4 based on a cross-platform Gamebryo engine on which is strung a lot of purchased (PhysX, SpeedTree) and own technologies. For wishes of the Seaward studio the Artichoke studio is engaged in upgrade of that engine. They are trying to ensure, that the graphics engine will look adequately in some years after. (It is not necessary to recollect "Lada Racing Club"[1] - to that engine with which this despicable crap was released, guys from Krasnodar[2] have no relation).

That last thing[3] is particularly actual for two reasons.
First, developers calculate that after the Russian release game will be released in the West (including, possibly, on consoles, and, most likely, with simplification of a gameplay for less developed audience) and the game should look not worse than competitors.
Secondly, development which has started in February, will be completed not earlier than autumn of 2010 year.</i></b>

--------------------------
1. The game, for which the Artichoke studio has developed graphics engine. Subsequently, the main developers of Lada Racing Club refused to pay Artichoke for the further development of the game engine and have released this game on its own engine. The game failed commercially. One of the reasons for the failure was awful graphics. The buyers began to accuse the Artichoke studio, although that engine was not Artichocke's.
2. The Russian city.
3. Gamebryo and cross-platform if following the context.
--------------------------

Anyway, my English is not so good as i want to, but if you may to correct these paragrahps by your grammar powers, i'll be happy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

That was my whole intent, to get something that makes better sense in english, yet maintains what was actually said in Russian. If you can confirm that I did a decent job of straightening out what was said, that would be great.

Cap'n Drow

Cap'n_Drow, that translation is a huge effort, thx!

/me sometimes wonder how confused our communication in here would be, if it were'nt for the native english and russian speaking people!

BTW did anyone in here actually play Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? I mean, just HOW big is that gameworld?

I've got Oblivion, Peter. But I've never actually finished the game yet, as I've always got so many other projects I'm working on.

Most folks I've talked with say they wish the world had been a lot bigger. Same usually is what is said about the Gothic series. The new Gothic title looks to really make some changes there, allowing you access to an entire continent or more.

Cap'n Drow

Ok, heh! The engine is capable of handling a whole continent?..more than enough for both the caribbean archipelago including the north and south americas, i´d say! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm a big Oblivion fan. To think that an Akella Pirate RPG is being made from the same game engine or some incarnation thereof is exciting. It would be a perfect game engine for their game especially in its ability to really be atmospheric and an exciting world to explore. It certainly is a huge world expecially when on foot. It would take some time to travel from one end of the map to the other by foot. Plus Oblivion came with modding tools and as a result, there is an enormous modding community behind Oblivion that has added some really great stuff.

I'm not sure how the map (which is very large), would translate into enough ocean to travel and battle upon especially knowing that you have to have the map populated by land masses too. But perhaps they'll be able to add to its size. I think there have even been some mods that add some land masses. Way back I even read about a Pirate themed mod in the works.

Nevertheless, I think this is really going to be a cool thing. If you've ever played Oblivion, you can really see how an Akella game could really benefit from its engine. Especially when it comes to the towns, forts, castles and settlements you get to explore as well as all of the different areas of the map that have their own distinct climates from rolling tundra, high snowy mountains and dirty sea ports to dark caves and ruins and huge forests.

Of course you did it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> . And your name will be there as an author's with gratitudes.
I propose to combine our efforts: i do not speak English well and therefore i can only provide you my translation of that's review sense to primitive English, and i would be happy if you'll be an editor who translated this point in the literary language. I will merge our works and give it to you for corrections, OK?

Sounds good, just-a-guy!

I'll keep my eyes open for when you send the final draft to me.

Cap'n Drow

Well, now it seems that Cap'n_Drow is really busy for that and therefore i propose to discuss my translation mistakes in this thread.

There is the fully translated article:
<a href="http://docs.google.com/View?id=dcxvw32b_9hnwtpxg4" target="_blank">http://docs.google.com/View?id=dcxvw32b_9hnwtpxg4</a>

If you find any semantic/grammatical/stylistic/etc mistakes, please let me know.

There is one observation: in the part of a text, which refers to the boarding and musketeers, really mentions of the "energy drink". In the original text there is exactly that sense. It probably meant something like medical red bottles in CoAS.

Sorry I haven't gotten to that Just-a-guy. Got really busy for awhile there and it just slipped my mind.

I'll get to it this weekend too. **grins**

Cap'n Drow

Okay, it looks pretty good, but I'll have to go in and tweak some of the sentences some. Some of them still read like they've been badly translated. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get those changes done later this weekend.

Great! I'm glad to hear it. Thank you for that.
I changed some things (which I thought that they were mistakes) because i didn't know that you read it now.

The list of corrections:
<strike>devil of the sea and drown most part of the island in the warm Caribbean waters</strike> sea devil and drown most part of the island in warm Caribbean waters
<strike>skill level in "Commerce"</strike> level in "Trade" skill
<strike>, get a light bunch</strike> you get a light bunch of coins

I saw a preview the other day on a Russian website. I don't like the idea of adding alot of occult mysticisim to another game. Too creepy for me. Also the latest screenshots it showed , showed the scenes and artwork looked
darker and very Halloween-ish. Not like the bright, sunny skies of COAS or POTC. I certainly won't be buying it. I would prefer a more sailing simulation myself based on the period.

For now, it's questionable if the game ever will get made.
We've got some more information which does actually sound pretty good.
Apart from the knowledge that the game is currently on hold.

Hey guys. I'm new here, but as huge fan of piracy in general I have to ask is there any more info about Corsairs 4?
And is that a some kinda sequel of Corsairs from 1999 which got expansion called Corsairs Gold?
If this is the same game... I'm gonna freak out! This game was and is still huge man! It's freakin' genius!

I saw on Akella's page that there is no game called Corsairs 4 on their "In development" page... :((((

Best wishes to all.

Corsairs 4 is a "sequel" to the series of Sea Dogs, Pirates of the Caribbean and Age of Pirates 1 and 2.
It "is" developed by seaward.ru, the creators of Age of Pirates II, but is currently on hold due to lack of funding.
Akella is no longer involved.

Hey guys.

Do you have any information about Corsairs Gold? I guess no sequel at all... :(

And does anyone of you have proper and decent version of it? I've tried few version but no result - can't install it. And some time ago I was able to play it, even it dropped me every 10 minutes or so... but I'm ready to pay that price to play a bit...
Cause I can't find any other good pirate game. They are all russian and I'm having thousands of problems with them. Not the language, the game, gameplay, installation and that kind of stuff.

Pf.. sorry for the messy post... and the last - can you recommend me some good pirate game?

thanks

A good pirate game? Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons, aka. Pirates of the Caribbean 2003 edition + Build Mod 13 Beta 1.
See http://www.moddb.com/new-horizons .

Thanks man, but I can't find the game. I've tried on btjunkie, rutracker, demonoid... no result. Only Pir Of Car - At The World's End 2007.
Can you give me some dl link? Thanks in advance!

PS: The link you gave me it's 404 page not found.
