Ok..maybe to lego but it sure looks like it in the dark. This and sometimes other buildings like mansons and stuff i can walk straight through and as you can see i think the lightings abit off :p. Is this meant to be or do i have to reinstall once again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />.

hey, it DOES look like lego. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> maybe i just found another task for heretik!

i guess it wouldn't be that bad if the top of a palmtree wouldn't be sticking half out of the ground once in a while. retexturing isn't that hard actually.

That is because of the BuildingSet mod. We are all very much aware of all the crazy limitations of this mod, such as buildings you can walk through, improper lighting and completely motionless characters standing near the buildings/forests, but there's nothing much we can do about it, except disable and/or remove the mod. You can disable the mod in BuildSettings.h by setting ENABLE_BUILDINGSET to 0. This will remove all additional trees and buildings from all locations, leaving only those that were always there and are not added through the BuildingSet mod. This will also disable your ability to build your own buildings by talking to an officer. You can also disable seperate BuildingSet items by finding the appropriate Build_at() commands and removing them from the code or commenting them out (means: add // before the line of code). You can find these commands in the PROGRAM\Locations\init files, such as at the bottom of Hispaniola.c.

I am personally of the opinion that a weird BuildingSet mod is much, much better than none at all and I would not ever want to remove it or disable it in the modpacks. I would, however, welcome everyone wanting to improve the mod and I am sure that CouchcaptainCharles, who wrote the mod, would also appreciate that. If you want to improve the textures and/or models used by the BuildingSet: Be my guest. If you want to rewrite the workings of the mod so that it works better: Most appreciated. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

LEGO is actually an excellent simile for the Buildingset Mod. It consists of simple "building blocks" which give you -yes, YOU- an easy way to create all sorts of locations anywhere you want.
The odd looks are the inevitable downside of the universal versatility of the building blocks.

Like all mods, this is only an offer. If it annoys you don't use it.

BTW the readme file explains the limitations of the buildingset at length. But why bother to read a readme if you can post some spirited complaint, eh?

Edit: Sorry if I sound annoyed, but after years in modding such posts are such a deja vu. People spend so much time posting complaints or demands or grand designs, but hardly anyone is willing to actually DO something to improve the game.

Very true. I must admit that of all complaints, the BuildingSet mod complaints are becoming the most tiresome. I haven't actually counted the number of complaints on it, but I reckon we've had at least FIFTY complaints since the mod was added. That's just plain crazy. Would people REALLY prefer to NOT have a good, but imperfect mod? I cannot believe that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

I think most people simply do not realize the background of and the reasoning for those odd buildings in Oxbay. They run into those (admittedly ugly) trees and believe some moron tried to change the location model without proper modeling knowledge.
And I can't really blame them, in hindsight it was a mistake to introduce the Buildingset in such a prominent location <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />h

If you want to get rid of those ugly trees unzip the attached file into the resource\models\ammo folder.
Or vent your annoyance on the motionless NPC in the green shirt and kill him <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

If I kill the guy, (or in some cases the lizzard) and Autolooting is on, I get the jungle in the inventory. I can equip it, and draw it like a sword. It's kinda funny.

Yes, you can, if you ignore the explicit warning not to do this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> . See it as an easteregg. After all, which other game allows you to swat your foes whith a whole jungle <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Try to get hold of a keep or the shipyard walls in antigua. Equiping those will make you feel like Godzilla <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

i know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> it's great fun. the first time i discovered it was when i threw a grenade at a pirate who apparently was close to the jungle locator causing the jungle to collapse. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> the strange thing is, when i equipped it, i equipped it as armor.

Ha ha ha! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> I gotta try that!

you do know that you can also talk to the jungle, right? then you can chop it down for wood.

Wow, fascinating uses you've come up with for a forest. **grins**

yes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> swatting someone is my favorite. or blowing it up.

Okay, so we can chop the forest down for wood. Is that just usable as wood for buildings or is anyone working up a crafting system?
