Ok, If someone remember, I was working on itenms interface images. I wanted to add alpha channels to all of them. I have 2 news. One good and one bad. Good is that I was finished that, and already wanted to upload files to ftp couple of months ago... Bad one, that nex morning I finished my hard disk just stopt... Now I'm with my old one and I don't even have enought space to install PotC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o) ... And after that I started to go to Job, So I have't time to get back.

Now I'll continue... ehm... Start from new.

You want me to remake other island maps?
 
Yes because the others aren't up to date, since they come from the A&M mod. And those jungles are arranged differently

Little worked with Oxbay map... Teksts are easy changable, so I'll make 2 versions of every map... one with old names and one with new <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Nice!, how do you get the picture oxbay done? Then I can make some maps myself you see <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
if you plan using that as a naval map, i'd put the beaches and towns on it as well, and maybe the estimated paths through the jungles.

Actually, you could just not add any of the texts to the map.
We could add these through code.
That way the names could appear when you visit those places.
Similar to the town names on the worldmap.

well, thats cool....but what if we want to buy a map that already has all the info? is there a way to do it too?

If it's posible to add those texts to the "unamed" map I'll do them without names... only paths, cityes and ect... Just note me with desizion...

Afcourse, that'll save some space ( <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/258_captain_of_a_ship.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":258_captain_of_a_ship:" border="0" alt="258_captain_of_a_ship.gif" /> )... And gives us an posibilitye to make multilanguage maps...

I personally think that should be something that shows up on the map only after you've stumbled upon the island or somebody tells you where it is.

But I'm not sure if that is technically feasible or not.

Hm... here's a crazy thought: maybe someone could try drawing such maps by hand, on paper, and then scan them? I think it would look a bit more authentic than map from post #7. I'm talking mainly about island outline - it looks so smooth... and compared to period maps, it simply doesn't look right to me.
 
well, i tried making a map of isla muelle, but i haven't visited the island for a long time, and was unable to finish the city area. for the rest, it looks allright.

2. IslaDeMuerte... I gues I should make 2 versions of map... one with it, one without it... And those will replace each other when you can fins it in worls map...

Becouse It's my cration, It looks perfect for me... Not finished afcourse, but...
What's egsactly looking wrong with that map? If you could say, I could try to "fix"...

Here is 2 versions

Well, look at this map (it's 17th century Spanish map of the Caribbean I just googled):

Note how shore lines look like: thick line with many thin lines kinda giving illusion of depth. In addition... well, to be brief, I believe you should try to emulate look of this map <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> You've done a fine job with 'aging' it - now it could use some more details.
 
I like the worn and beaten look of the second version of the map.

Personally I think having multiple maps for the game where we can purchase or create better versions of the maps would be nice. Like bad, okay, good and excellent quality maps, with differing levels of accuracy on each of them.

Oh, and the word SEE on your map should be spelled SEA. **smiles**
