Importing models into the TOOL

OK, I give up. I can't make her to appear in the game. The game doesn't crash or anything. The <i>Black Pearl</i> simply doesn't. Appear. At all.

So, I'm uploading her into the PirateAhoy! Public FTP as we speak in the subdirectory <i>Kazeite</i>. If anyone can get her working, we'd all be grateful <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
I downloaded your files from the FTP and tried adding her into my game. Strangely enough, I had no trouble doing it at all. I added your files and the ships_init entry. I then set your Black Pearl as my starting ship and started the game. No trouble at all and I've been having some fun sailing her around.

Please find "theBlackPearl.zip" in your folder on the FTP. I added yuor texture and model files, along with the ships_init.c file and the common.ini files for the English and Russian language. This file is ready to install on top of the 21-8-06 Pre Build 13 modpack update.

I have made some modifications to the ships_init entry: Now she has black torn sails by default. I also set refShip.All to BlackPearl, but I made sure she keeps using the Frigate1 walk file. Now she appears ingame with the proper interface texture. I hope you can figure out how to make new walk files though. Would be great to be able to walk on the deck. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Of course, I would prefer her to use your patched sails, but I don't have the texture files for those. To make her use those sails instead, simply change the two sail texture lines in ships_init.c.

To test her out ingame, just open BuildSettings.h, scroll to the bottom and replace one of the starting ships with theBlackPearl. Then choose the Black Pearl when starting the game.

I most definitely don't mind <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> It would be nice to have her in the game, maybe even as the replacement for the stock <i>Black Pearl</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

EDIT: I've uploaded my custom patched sails to my directory. Instruction for other people:

Drop them into Resource/Textures/Ships directory and change two lines in <i>ships_init.c</i> file, from:

refShip.EmblemedSails.normalTex = "ships\sail_BlackPearl.tga";
refShip.EmblemedSails.nationFileName = "ships\sail_BlackPearl.tga";

to

refShip.EmblemedSails.normalTex = "ships\sail_whole_black_patch1.tga";
refShip.EmblemedSails.nationFileName = "ships\sail_whole_black_patch2.tga";

(Make sure it's the "the Black Pearl", and not stock "BLACK PEARL" section <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />)

Once your ship is balanced, we should be able to make her replace the stock game's Black Pearl. Although the stock game's version is black with black torn sails, she does not look like the film's version.

I would like to make it so that as long as you don't have the Pearl, she has torn sails. But when you capture her at the end of the main quest, she'll have patched sails by default. Also: I think it is good that the Pearl is an "uber-ship" to fight, but once you capture her, she shouldn't be an "uber-ship" anymore. That's what I'd think anyway.

Thanks a lot for your new ship! I think I'll add the current version into the modpack, so people won't have to install her manually. But I'll turn her off by default until you think she's finished. People would be able to use her by changing the starting ship, but you wouldn't encounter her in the game until you're done with her. Is that OK with you?

I have installed PoTC 12.1, but after copy the unzipped folders. The game only crash back to desktop, on load. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
 
Try downloading the zipped file and extracting, the zipped file in the main POTC file. Overwrite all. It should work fine.

You can't by the Pearl at this stage. She's still only for testing and will probably not be for sale anyway. You can test sail her by changing the first start ship (e.g. "Lugger1") in Building Settings to "theBlackPearl" and starting a new game.

They download to where you point the downloading program. I don't understand what you want to know, really. Just go to my site, go to the modding tools page, press the link to Inez Dias' Tool, then download TOOL.rar. Install it anywhere you like, as long as you can find where you installed it.
