Ideas

If the wind dies down, would you really want to spend your own player time waiting for it to pick up?

This happens a lot in the Caribbean? Over many months of watching the wind conditions on Windy as forecasted the only time I've seen wind die down is in small local areas like around Port au Prince and waiting won't help you there.

If anyone is interested in my work with scale maps, please get in touch with me privately, as I am out of here.

Hook

On a full size map, all the shore lines will look alike
Do they in real life, that they are 1:1? Believe me, I know what you are talking about, and this is not an issue. Size increases, detail does too. And I am not just talking about adding some bits here and there, but the geomorphological detail. The question is, how much of it will the game handle. How high can we go to polygons, so we can have the variations we want. Though I hope that it won't be an issue too, since we are not going for a 1:4 scale, or something, but much less.

If you scale TEHO islands up, for example, of course what you say would be true.

I would suggest the minimum scale required, so that the smallest colonised island's size can be acceptable and spacy for the town, port and shores. But not alter the relative scale and shapes.

because the islands are so big and the only time you'll see the deck of your ship is when you're in port or in battle because you'll be forced to use whatever version of map sailing that you decide upon in order to sail anywhere...
Or... time accelerator? I don't know what happens with physics in that case though. But, I would agree with Pieter on this. You don't have to stay on deck all the time. I know it's nice to take a look at the suroundings, while you sail to a destination and follow the coastline, but time accelerator would not kill this, plus it won't take ages either. For example, you feel you want to pass from landscapes faster, while you look at them. Why not use it? You don't have to lose anything.

To sum it up, my view is you can control how fast you reach destinations, by playing with time and not by distorting the environment. That way, you can both admire the environment to its best possible glory (correct relative scale, shapes, etc) and control the duration of your travels. On land, it's a different story though.

I am sorry for starting this conversation. Seems like we might get stuck again on scale. I am fully open to do what's necessary, so it won't take ages to both develop and play. I would like to remind you that I do have a pretty good 3D base of the whole Caribbean+Gulf of Mexico, that can be used anytime, in perfect relative scale. Of course it will take manual editing later on. So, I know I started it, but let's leave this conversation for now, and let the thread fill with other ideas. We could discuss this again, after the remaster process is finished. Also, if some of you would like we could start a closed conversation about this.

Larry Hookings, it's good that you have an insight on this matter and have worked with scale maps, I will drop you a line.:)

I fully support @Hylie Pistof on this.
Seems this discussion is not reaching consensus any time soon, so progress will continue to aim for replicating New Horizons as-is for the time being.

Also, if some of you would like we could start a closed conversation about this.
That does sound wise. Maybe between you and @LarryHookins, you can work out a single proposal.
When you're both agreed on an approach and think it matches with what others suggested here too, you'll be welcome to share it with me. :doff

This happens a lot in the Caribbean? Over many months of watching the win
With all those trade winds, probably not too likely, no.
I was thinking mainly conceptually. And for if ever someone decides to add a world beyond the Caribbean.
But that's 10+ years in the future, most likely. Nothing to fuss over now.

Hello team: "PiratesAhoy"
I'll go straight to the point, I have a few ideas for you and maybe not bad suggestions.

And among other things, if we talk about the scale of the archipelago, then:
Why not learn the proportions of the real islands of the Caribbean Basin, and do not enter them on the Unity engine?
And I apologize in advance, if I wrote something wrong, I just decided to offer you this idea :)

And would like to see in the game such animated and physical effects as:

1.Rollback of cannon in the time of fire
2.And the opportunity to stand up for the helm of your ship while sailing too

Well, as I understand you have a dispute on the subject of swimming:

Maybe I can help?
I just thought here and decided that maybe it's worth taking the idea from "POTBS"? (Pirates of the Burning Sea)
There swimming, on the World map is very cleverly realized and many like

Here's a look:
I'm offering you an idea with the realization of a three-dimensional map of the world
Ie transform, 2D map into 3D
But with the same capabilities as the former 2D map

What is being said (and I am not trying to be an ass here because your enthusiasm is what we need on such a project):

1 - there is not something you have suggested we have not thought of before. But there are reasons why such elements are not even being suggested or discussed openly yet. This being that we first need to have a extremely basic game platform working first.

And NO such elements will be added or worked on before that's in place.
That's what is meant by "baby steps"

2 - The whole idea is for us to create a base game that can allow for easy modding, so you yourself or other people can add such things yourself.

We are mostly going to work on the notion to replicate what is there and already possible in the PiratesAhoy community mod New Horizon as a standalone game. Before that is accomplished very little additional functions will make it into the game unless it is imperative for the process further on in the future.

So to sum it up, feel free to add ideas and suggestions, but do it for yourself foremost as most of it will be up to you to realize, or get others to team up with you to realize. But don't expect us to even consider any of this until WAY out in the development - if ever. And even then, don't expect it to make it to the game by our account - as we ultimately want to hand this to the community - meaning you and all others interested in modding the game

Hello team: "PiratesAhoy"
I have an idea:
And what if, add to the swimming, random situations
Well, for example:

You are sailing on an assignment, or some other business, to another Island-
and here the Squadron: The military, the "French", swims on you and opens fire
After all, you will agree, such situations, then there were many in the Caribbean.

And plus to this, also add, the influence of the number and experience of the team-
on those or other characteristics of the ship, to the maximum possible for him, the limit.
And animation of raising your personal flag, on your ship, before the battle.

Hi everyone long time no see
Happy New Year to all of you friends.

And on top of everything else, I had a few ideas..
To begin with, I decided to find you a good texture for the ship's deck-
so-as understood, that you have with this it seems problems.
And decided for you to find 4k textures, I do not know really whether it was necessary but I hope that will come in handy.

And among other things, I decided that you may need a good high-poly models of ship guns, etc
Which I found on the Internet on free sites for 3D models.
Write if necessary.

And another thing..
I thought about it and decided why don't you post information about your project on this site:
Start your project — Kickstarter that is created specifically for such projects are few finances.

And so you will:
1.Constantly updated financial budget for the money of fans of your project and not only.
2.Their additional community on this site and a lot of new ideas from fans and just people
3.Work on the project will be twice as productive and faster.
4.You will be able for this year very strongly to advance simply having told about the project there.
5.And you can update the configuration of your hardware on which you are doing the project.
6.In addition, you can hire the money that you get on:"KickStarter", additional employees.

Such as:
1.Programmers
2.Model-developers
3.Decorators
4.Animators
5.Quest-writers
6.Script-writers

And others, until a certain time.
And give them different tasks for the project.
And you will control the development process, helping them in this.
In addition, you will be able to raise from 80 to 300-
thousand dollars if your project is liked by many.
In addition, there is a game called abbreviated "KCD" and deployed:"Kingdom Come Deliverance".
so it was created on the donations of the fans of this site.

But there is one, but:
If you are there let them know about your project then:
You'll have to accurately implement the project, as fans-
will help you-
at its own expense, constantly funding it there, hoping for the result.

Additionally..
If you like the idea, then:
Place information about the project there-
demo version, description, screenshots, etc..
+There are some subtleties about which I don't know and which you better learn there.
