You've got both folders correctly selected.
Now all you need to do is to actually select a GM file as per step #3.
Just double-click on "hooker1.gm" and the ship should appear.
"Plymouth Clipper" or something like that?
Is the name of the GM file you select turning "blue" as on my screenshot?
That's what should be happening when you select it.
The GIMP should be able to save as TGA file, no?
Is there not a "Save as..." button or something?
