Got my first Ship of the Line!

Okay, they really do exist! I've been playing for a month, and this is the first time I've seen one. Most fortunately, I encountered it, (playing 1660 era) with my new young rogue who was mericlessly harassing the french, and this was the third `pirate-hunter` they sent out after him. I met it head on, with the wind at my back, and took it wihout taking a shot! She's the really BIG ship in the center of the screen. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> I got her from the French.
 
My SOTL is fully upgraded now. Sometimes, ships just surrender to me without even trying to do battle...

I've learned not to use round shot much--it just sinks 'em! 48 cannons!

It handles pretty much like a large frigate--that is, not so great. Copper plating helps. Plus, it is surprisingly fast for such a huge thing. Most of all, it has 48 guns, so you don't really have to worry about anything except aiming them!
 
My buddy got one and he saved his game so I could sail it. Nice ship, a bit pretensious, without being overzealous. Full bodied and a great finish with a hint of jasmine.

Thanks for your help, just after posting this last night got a Large Frigate, I know it is not a SOTL but impressive just the same

I just sell SOTL. I like to tack back 'n forth behind my prey using grapple shot to clear the decks. Can't do that in a SOTL. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
Yuk!....I did not know ships of the line were so rare....I once intercepted one (as a New Warship) around 1660, but I sank it as a habit.
