There are times I wished I'd never found out about that night photographer dude:

This CANNOT be saved - the truck's wood parts are rotted to nothing, and the trailer has more rust than good metal. Moving it will destroy it. As best anyone can figure, it's a late 1920's or early 1930's Seagrave ladder truck.

Those who own the Pearsonville junkyard (the sons of the original owner) are only interested in the scrap value of everything that's in the yard. There's over 3,000 cars from 1910 to about 1980 in there, and there was over 10,000 less than a year ago.

There's cars used in movies and TV (Back to the Future, MASH, rumours that the other Duel truck and the Avro Canada Jet Truck are in there somewhere), one-of-a-kind's, oddities, and piles of others. The sons won't let people buy the stuff from them if it's restorable, so most resort to sneaking in at night and stealing what they're after.

The junkyard exists in what was, up until 2001, a racetrack in the California high desert. This is what the site looks like from the old grandstands:

The cars wrap all the way around the track, and go out to the highway at the entrance behind the grandstands.
