This is explained by the following equation (originally proposed in the books of Terry Pratchett):

Knowledge = Power = Mass x Distance ^2 / Time ^3

For a given hard drive, distance = physical size of hard drive, which will be constant. Time = access time, which should be constant unless the stepper motors are wearing out, in which case time will increase.

Which means that as more data (knowledge) is stored on the hard drive, its mass must increase. It also means you don't need a super-sized collider to explore the workings of the universe, you just need a huge hard drive stuffed with all the copies of every spam ever recorded, which will then turn into a portable black hole.
