some of those cars are in very nice condition. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> strange noone has taken them for restauration yet.
 
There's places like that all around here, too. It often ends up, though, that most of the cars are sold as scrap, even if there's nothing wrong with them. The truck in the pic I posted is a one-of-a-kind, and the junkyard it's in is slowly being emptied by its new owners - there used to be over 4,000 old cars there, but now there's less than 1,000 left. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on that truck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

People seem to have gotten into a bad habit of destroying all of this stuff lately, though. Most of the time (at least here), there's nothing put up in place of what's razed.

Troy also did a series on the S.S. Independence, a 1950-built cruise ship that was in dry dock for about seven years, and he gained access only a week before she was towed to points unknown (either for a refit in Singapore or the beaches at Alang). Her sister ship, the Constitution, sank while being towed to a breaker's yard.

Turns out the ship is stuck somewhere East of Singapore - the US government has decided it's loaded with PCBs and other crap, and they want it back <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

that looks suspiciously like a picture in one of the older computer games i've played. like broken sword 2. the back of the car looks exactly the same.

It's a staircase from a parted-out 747 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Damned eerie-looking, too. It's in an airplane graveyard that's used by the movie industry.

Yep - it's apparently at some railway museum, and makes daily runs. The picture was taken two hours after it was shut down for the night.
