frigate Rotter Love (or whatever the name is ^^)

The cannon looks to me like a front loading cannon. Those cannons were mounted on wheel carriages, so they could be rolled back for cleaning and reloading.
 
It's definitely a breech-loading cannon. If you look at the screenshots, you can see the separate breech part that would be removed, loaded, and replaced. It also fits the period of the "Roter Lowe", or whatever it's called...Red Lion, I believe the translation is?

At any rate, what a beautiful ship!

speaking of ships, Chocolate Bill hasn't given an update in ages. looks like he gave up making it, but i dont think it will be the same in this case.
Lovely ship by the way, makes me wonder wether HMS Victory, Santasima Trinidad and L'Orient models are really that far off, if this does get ingame and operational, those could well be among the requests that come next.

As you see, it's open, the designer of the ship forgot to place doors ( <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> ) so i must do the interior (where the "wheel" (it's not a wheel in this case but i don't know the name) is).

We all hope that you will manage to finish your ship, because many of the modders that began to modelise a new ship seemed to give up. (Exception for Inzane who miraculously came back with his H.M.S Surprise.) Chocolate Bill had begun a little wonder, a small frigate looking the surprise that was quite advanced and skinned but we haven't any news since one month...)

So we all hop we'll be able one day, to sail with your creation <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
personally, i can't comment on those two things that you asked about, but if you have an 18th century warship docked anywhere near you, go have a tour and see what you can find, if not, check the HMS Trincomalee [just search for it with google, and eventually you'll find a virtual tour, just check it out], the reason i said go to the nearest warship in your country, is because virtual tours dont usually show you all there is to see in the ship, but if its not an option, go for the latter.

The one on the left is the capstan for the raising of the anchor. The one circled on the right is the bilge pump mechanism, or at least that's what it looks like.

I think you're working quite fast enough. It's a great disappointment that we've seen so many ships with no results that we can play with, but I think that this ship here is being modeled faster than any of those. Keep up the good work!

Hum, i really don't understand this thing.
There is 2 capstans, one on the gun deck and one on the deck just up.The rope of the 2 anchors enter by the front in the gundeck.So how does the rope go to the capstan in the deck up?

If the second thing if a bilge pump, what it's the thing on the front of the ship?It look like same but it don't have "teeths".

Really, i don't understand a thing.
Well, in the worst case, i will do it like the plan.

The first thing is still the capstan, that I know for sure. It had two tiers to make it more efficient. The second isn't the bilge pump now that I see the whole plans...you can see the *real* bilge pump just aft of the capstan. My fault.

but chocolate bill was also verry far with his ship and now there is no more project of that ship
 
may I ask what 3d modeler your are using??and do you intend to put this in potc?if so I have some pointers for you
