Okay, and what about characters.c from post #7? I've grabbed that one as well.

That one cannot hurt; it just adds an on-screen note if a character is being erased.
I recommend manually making the change from post #12 then as well.

Now that you have all those files included, you will be seeing on-screen messages EVERY time a character is completely erased.
This is generally OK, but NOT if it happens on one of your officers. That isn't meant to happen, but until a few days ago could occasionally occur anyway.

So important to do is to have a look at these messages and if you see one mentioning the name of one of your OWN officers, check if that officer indeed vanished.
If so, upload your compile.log file here as well as a savegame where you did still have that officer around.

I'm about 16 months into my new campaign and have not come across this issue again, so looking good.
