Dutchman

heres a couple of screenshots of the back end of the dutchman, just in case someone is going to improve TTT's Model

oh also has anyone thought about making two versions of TTT's Flying Dutchman. a cursed version which is the one covered in seaweed and stuff, and a normal version like at the end of POTC 3

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but those are too blurry to be of any use.

Anyway, I've redid my <i>Dutchman</i> sails:
<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/sails4.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Top one is made from screengrab, used as a reference, and to easily see how my version compares to it.

The bottom one is mine. So, what do you think?

well, it sure looks good. but maybe the leech (lower edge) of the sail should have a slightly bigger tear in it here and there, just to make it a bit more irregular. it would more or less have the same effect as the holes in it.

here you are, a clear picture of the back end of the dutchman. to help anyone who is planning on improving thomas the terror's model

WOOOH WOOOOOH, It is not my model, some russian dude made it, and I only have made sails for it, and Pieter put it ingame. Kazeite, I must say, REALLY GOOD SAILS.

ok in future i'll refer to the russian model as pieter and thomas's dutchman.

Kazeite, where would i be able to download your new dutchman sails

so has anyone considered improving the back end and the sail plan of pieter and thomas's dutchman.

hey razor, what happened to your idea about adding your mast and sails onto it.

Hm... maybe <b>Razor</b> transparency would be better? I've uploaded my sail into my ftp subdirectory.

Sorry; no, I don't remember. I'm going to try to do it though; see what happens.

The only person I know who might be able to actually modify the <i>model itself</i> is Kazeite. Razor only added pieces to the model as did the Russian guy who made the other version. I personally never did do any modeling for PotC; only for <a href="http://www.avsim.com/vs" target="_blank">Virtual Sailor</a> and since the conversion process is so tricky and I have enough other things on my plate, I won't be trying it either.

Even if Kazeite would modify the model, the 1st person walking would be affected. For the Black Pearl the 1st person walk was somewaht messed up until the Russians fixed it. Unfortunately we have no contact with the Russians so we cannot ask. Perhaps Kazeite does know how to export properly though; I know he was working on figuring it out, but I don't know how far he got. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

That would be nice, yes. Might even be relatively simple by modifying the nose model and removing the seaweed and making a slight retexture of the ship. And replace the sails, of course. Perhaps we can use Thomas the Terror's untorn sails for the not-cursed version. He did some pretty good work on those. But we can only get to that once the cursed version is done; I think we should focus on the cursed version first.

That looks bloody darn good! I'm going to try and put those ingame and see how they look there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That's a pretty good picture. I am surprised by how much the Thomas the Terror version actually does look like that picture. Of course the stern is higher and less wide in that picture, but other than that the <i>shape</i> is pretty similar. What with those two balcony's at the stern and the closed off captain's cabin "windows". Just the top of the stern is a bit more detailed on the real version as opposed to ours, but other than that it's pretty similar, I think. Does anyone still have the side view drawing of the Dutchman? I recall Morgan Terror once posted it on the forum.

What soundtrack?

how can i get them both?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What do you mean by "get them both"? Kazeite's Black Pearl is already in the game under the name "theBlackPearl". Do you want to have both the Black Pearl <i>and</i> the Dutchman in your game? Or in your fleet?

i didn't post a pic of the dutchman. i think that was CJPJ.

nevermind about that idea, (although i posted it a well-counted three times :roll ) as long as it's carried out. i wonder how it looks.

i was talking to razor about a soundtrack i sent him for his clips.

maybe i need to take a closer look at the stern of the other dutchman. maybe the width is right after all.

EDIT: oh, wait, you mean this one? it's not complete though, but it gives a pretty good image of the hull. i think the rudder's missing, although i'm not sure.

ow srry i mean in my fleet

The Dutchman is not used anywhere in the game, so you can't get her. In Alpha 7 (and possibly 6 too) the new Black Pearl is at the end of the main quest where you can capture her. Easiest way is to just set both ships to <i>CanEncounter = true;</i> or <i>CanBuy = true;</i> in ships_init.c. That way you can capture or buy them same as any other ship.
