Hey there guys and gals. I got this wierd thing going on:
I had played PotC a few times in the past and had no probs at all in the past xept usual bugs, but nothing major So not so long ago i felt like sailing da high seas once again and bump! The game starts as usual but anywhere outdoors I have horrible slowdown and very choppy music. As soon as I enter any building it's all good again. I've tried reinstalling and playing with my video/sould but nothing helps... My comp is not THAT uber but I played the game from start to finish more then once and never had this nagging thing going on. Not sure if it helps, or if you have done so, but have you made certain that you completely uninstall the old graphics card driver before installing a new? I know I had silly problems when I tried to fix it with my last card. It was a nightmare. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

You basically have to completely remove all graphics drivers, down to the last little file, then reboot (to VGA mode) and <i>then</i> reinstall the new drivers. At least with my Windows (never had 2k, only 3.1-95-98 and XP). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Yup, sometimes reinstalling Windows is the only way to get rid of some "features" (problems)! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Here's a thought, Dark Art - Chances are that you might have installed Windows Service Pack 2 - if you re-install Windows, do NOT install SP2, I understand there are a LOT of problems with it and with certain programs.

Thanks for your input gals.. I am sure I'll get it working eventually...What's pissimg me off to no end is the thing that PotC was running more then just fine and now its barely moving... Bloody hell Catalina, you might be right. I do have SP4 and I am not too sure if I had it on last time I played. Been a while.... Sigh.... In any case reinstall of Windows is long owerdue anyway......

What mods, if any, are you running? If so, have you changed them further, any?

EDIT: Ah, you say both with and without. If it's happening on stock, then I'm afraid I can't help. :\
