Davy Jones "Lord of the Sea" Freeplay Saving Issue

I have been playing New Horizons for a couple of years now and, on a previously used build version (I'm not sure which), I was able to save my Lord of the Sea Davy Jones profile like any other freeplay profile. Now, that is not the case. I have created other throwaway freeplay profiles in order to test if this was an issue with how many freeplay profiles I have but every other throwaway freeplay profile worked correctly and was able to both save and quicksave. I then ran into severe issues with the game freezing after these throwaway freeplay profile tests so I then tried to uninstall the stock game and reinstall the mod after making a backup of all my save profiles. I did this and made sure the game was running correctly, which it was, and I test ran my save profiles to make sure that everything was correctly ported and they worked correctly. I then tried to make another Lord of the Sea profile and tried to save it but it once again acted as if the profile didn't exist and failed quicksave as well. Please, any help would be most appreciated.

I'll try a FreePlay as Davy Jones myself when I have time. Otherwise, after you try to save as Davy Jones, post the log files "compile.log", "system.log", and "error.log" if it exists. Use the "Attach files" button down on the left to add them to your post.

I just tried to create a new profile after trying out Mr. Boelen's suggestion of deleting the "options" file and re-running it. The issue is still persisting and acts as if no profile is being created at all. Just as a reminder, this is only happening with the "Lord of the Sea" freeplay story; I have tested many other story lines, such as "Tales of a Sea Hawk, Devlin Opera, and Cutler Beckett's story, but this is the only storyline affected. I have attached the compile.log and system.log but there is no error.log since there hasn't been any system failure or crash.

I don't see why Davy Jones specifically would be affected.
He's a Free Play character just like any other.
Just locked from making port ashore.
You'll have to rely on the (admittedly not 100% perfect) Save At Sea mod feature.

I have a new update on the situation. It seems that the issue stems specifically from Davy Jones or the Flying Dutchman as profile entities. I attempted to make a "Tales of a Sea Hawk" profile customized as Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman. It did not turn into a "Lord of the Sea" profile when doing this and remained a "Tales of a Sea Hawk" profile. However, even this profile was unable to save or quicksave and did not register as an active profile. This possibly means that Davy Jones as a character or the Flying Dutchman as a ship entity are what are preventing the profile from saving but I have no idea how. Again, this is after testing multiple other new profile storylines, including a stock "Tales of a Sea Hawk" profile, and them all working as intended. I've attached the system.log and compile.log for this as well.

Can someone else try this experiment? Start a FreePlay as Davy Jones and try to save game as soon as you are at sea near Cozumel. If you want, you can navigate out to sea, sail to another island or use Worldmap to go to open sea, then try to save again.

Because I can do all that without any problem. Both F1 to Main Menu and then clicking "Save game", and F5 Quicksave, work for me at Cozumel and Cayman.

I started Davy Jones on a new player profile as well and saved both ways on the world map and in 3D Mode near Cozumel. No problems for me.

Looking at that "compile.log", you're using the so-called "Final" 2022 version. It's now two years out of date. Download the update:
https://piratesahoy.bowengames.com/potc/Grey Roger/post_1Jan_updates_070624.zip

It's a simple zip file whose contents are structured the same as the game's folders. Either unzip it straight into your game folder, or unzip it into a completely different folder and then copy the whole lot into the game installation. Then see if you can save games while playing as Davy Jones.

I will give it a try. Thank you so much for the help.

Alright, I have a fairly interesting update. So I downloaded the update files and unzipped em in. Just to make sure I did everything correctly, I even reinstalled the base game, the b14 final mod files, and the Jan1 update patch files. I got onto the game and created a new Lord of the Sea freeplay profile and it still wouldn't quicksave or save at all. I then thought that maybe the game wasn't liking the name of the file itself and was triggering maybe some type of censoring code so I made another profile just titled "Davy Jones." I got in and tried the quicksave and IT WORKED NOW. I don't know if there even is any such type of censoring code in the game that just doesn't like the word "death" or something of that nature but now it's working on a different profile without that name. New issue though after downloading the Jan1 update files: every nation and ship now is completely neutral with me no matter what flag I fly so I can't attack anyone and they won't attack me. This is also not specific to the Davy Jones "Lord of the Sea" freeplay because I tested it on a normal Jack Sparrow freeplay profile and it also had the same issue. I have no idea what this issue is or how to fix it and its definitely not got to do with my game preference settings because there doesn't seem to any setting that would turn everyone neutral to you even if you're flying a pirate flag. Do you have any idea what's happened?

As you can now save a game, could you use something like 7-Zip to compress a save file and upload it here? The forum won't accept a raw save file but it will accept a zipped file.
