Hiya Sadly I just found this out today this happen on 21st of May 2007, this just is sicking me in two ways what shitbag would burn such a historical ship and second this was never mentioned in the American Media. more and more I believe we are being cut off from the outside world. they prefer to force feed us crap about Britney Spears. but anything of any content is not mentioned.I am getting sick of this. More and more New Zealand is looking better and better all the time..

more and more we are losing precious cultural treasures to our past. theres more to life than Ipods and Iphones. we all need to take a stand. before the only connection to the AGE of Sail are movies. I sent in a donation. every little bit helps. this is not the first time I have heard about a cultural treasure being burned. The tea Party Ship Beaver was torched also. not once but twice. wtf is wrong with people these days.
 
Oh, Christ on a sidecar!! What Son of a bitch would do such a thing!? Thats HORRIBLE. MAAAAAN If i could i would skin that bitch/bastard alive, and burn his/her entrails!!! That was such a beautiful ship. My cousins were there LAST SUMMER. Dammit to hell. Is there any plan to restore it?

from what i read on the Cutty Sark trust website, they have plans to try to rebuild Her. Its going to take alot of money and skilled craftsmen. they want to find out who did this and why, the question is of much of her will be orignal,I would guess her keel would be salvaged,the fire looks like it was mostly on her upper decks.
 
Yeah, not just the keel, it looks like everything below the weather deck. Its charred, and when they hammer all of that off, you might be right, its probably just the keel.
 
I did find some photos online of the current restoration, they ripped her back down to sticks. so it looks pretty much ground up reconstruction. and they are steaming ahead at full speed. that makes me feel much better seeing the progress.

If I recall correctly, at the time of the fire the ship was partially dismantled, which means that most of it wasn't there to burn.

So, I'm confident they'll rebuild her <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The main thing where we are cut out from REAL universe IS:

1) Space (i know that humans can go to moon and send
probes, robots, satellites into space but it isn't enought). <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sad" border="0" alt="icon_sad.gif" />

2) Aliens (It may be Sci-Fi(ish) or not but they are so REAL that i could drink poison for that). <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ko" border="0" alt="ko.gif" />

3) TRUE nature of spirituality (what has NOTHING to do with this bloody religion but just plain invisible finematter).

By point 3 i am telling ya that you don't have to belive in god/following the religion just because to be spiritually good ..the point is i'm spiritually even better than a guy who follows the religion and i'm not kidding. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

It was reported in Dutch newspapers, if I remember correctly. I didn't know she was actually destroyed; I thought she was only damaged. I sure hope they manage to rebuild her; shame to lose such a fine ship as that. I think we should send them to the tower of london, with barely any food for LIFE and give them a pair of binoculars to watch their carefully planned handywork be rebuild with a big yellow flag showing a hand with the middle finger stuck up and a smily under it, then some words that say "Have a nice day".
