Might've been nice... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

if everything should have a purpose here you could ditch at least half the topics. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

look at it this way: you are a pirate. what use do you have for a town? you only want the stuff you can get in a town.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

in fact, if i am a famous pirates i wouldlike to have my own isle, and if i worf for france (logic for me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> ) i would like to have my isle too, and to give cuba or hispagniola to my king.

but, i suppose that it'sonly possible in age of pirates, i did a mistake in my search (i think)

Using the building set and having your own colony can add alot to the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

In my last few games I played as a pirate and set up costal villages so that I wouldn't keep having to sail to QC to sell my goods. I would attack coastal ships and sell their goods at my market. The shipwright I built repaired my ship for free and I built farms and distillerys to feed my crew. I did quite well doing this and made a million piastres in 2 months game time. Only then did I sail to QC to sell my officers ships and divide the plunder.

It can be more challenging and fun to roleplay and set rules for yourself. It also keeps the game interesting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Stowaway

i really have to try doing that. now, what DO you need for buildings and where should you have it?

You need planks, gold and an officer. The planks should be in your cargo hold, the gold should simply be money. I don't think bricks are used for the BuildingSet yet.

Yes it would. But the bricks aren't used yet, because the bricks were added into the game AFTER the BuildingSet mod was made. It is possible to make bricks a requirement as well, but that'd take some work.

Bricks should be required to build my forts :p I prefer stone, but I dont want to be picky <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

CAPTAIN CACERES! Nice to see an old face back on the board. Welcome back! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Of course the bricks SHOULD be used for the BuildingSet mod. I just said that, at the moment, they aren't used by the mod. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Thanks for the welcome, is nice to know you are still around too Pieter, last time I checked you were going to sail the seven seas, am I correct?

I just talked to Johannes about resuming our scenario creation project, but the main problem are still blockin us. So basically we need to know how to create walk and lighting files for our new city.

Any help is always welcome.

That is correct. I leave February 9th, so I won't be here for only a couple of weeks more. I'll try to drop in from time to time during my six months at sea though.

At the moment Kazeite is the person with the most knowledge of 3D modeling for the game, I think. But he has trouble with collision files for his ships as well. We really need Inez Dias. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

As with most games, the collision models of POTC should be simplified and invisible versions of the model itself, for example if I make a 4 walled house, the collision model should be a simple 3D box of exactly the same dimensions of the house. The tricky part is generating them, for that as Pieter says we need Inez or someone who knows the process.

I have a half finished dock scene that I am willing to give to anyone interested in trying to solve this mistery.

That is indeed more realistic. Modifying existing models usually works pretty well. I think it might be possible to make a complete remodel, as long as you keep the original street lay-out.

i don't remember exactly at which island it was, but i think it was guadeloupe: the entrance to the city (from the jungle side) has a rediculously high door. it looks like the stairs are missing.
