  > Aztec Coins turn you into a skeleton when outside at night, that is hated by all
You get additional HP for this, but only WHILE you are a skeleton
  > Aztec Coins can be given to officers/crew or placed in all your ships' weaponslockers
If placed in the Weaponslocker, they are used by boarders and decrease crew damage during sea battles
  > Food and Rum consumption decreases for each crewmember cursed, but morale decreases too
  > Aztec Coins can be sold; however, they WILL keep counting for the extent of the curse
  > After a while of being cursed, your ship will get torn sails and start trailing fog
  > The curse can only be lifted by placing 882 coins back in the chest on Isla de Muerta
Careful with losing those coins! If you can't collect 882 again, you're stuck with the curse!
There is ONE place other than the chest on Isla de Muerta where ONE additional coin can be acquired if you are in dire need of it. Guess where!
. Dead Albatross bad luck enforced by Pieter Boelen
  > You cannot get rid of it, except in ONE way. Try to figure it out!
. Flag Hoisting Code rewritten and simplified by Pieter Boelen

Translated Installation Instructions in Other Languages:
German

Komplett-Installation (Z.B.

As I said: new game not required. This is hardly different from the files you're probably using already, just slightly updated and all put together.

Standing by. What's the problem?

I have noticed nothing odd. Pirates spawned their pirate frigates as usual and I captured the pirate Hannah.

Opening post updated with the corrected files, even including some bonus updates, such as:
Code:
- Bug Fixes:
. Promotion Reward Ships fixed and reinstated by Pieter Boelen
. Merchant/Navy ensigns on Player and Companion ships linked properly by Pieter Boelen
Also "HMS" or "USS" prefix no longer gives you the navy ensign. Letter of Marque required.
- Code Updates:
. "HMS" prefix used only in the Golden Age of Piracy and more recent by Pieter Boelen
Standing by. What's the problem?
On shore, the Fast Travel "Ship" icon was missing because that somehow relied on the old Viper Sails code. Hadn't expected that.
Also, I managed to get the sails working on every ship in the game. Except the player ship, that is. At least until you manually select some sails yourself. :facepalm

Installed the new update and will start testing soon. Busy trying to fix the Raa frigate right now. More details soon.

What happened to the will surrender adjustment feature in "options"? Every battle is to the death now which is not realistic at all. :rumgone

Moved to PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h:
Code:
#define SURR_GLOBAL_SCL 0.01 // FLOAT - Ships will surrender if damage or crew morale become critical
                                                // 0.0 : Stock PotC, no surrenders
// 0.01 - 0.5 : The higher that value the faster ships surrender
Value hasn't been changed in quite a long time though.

Everyone who has posted about it sets the surrender value to 0.04 or 0.05.
I just finished a battle where neither one of us could board the other even though we were blasting away at each other at point blank range for a long time. It was a very good thing I had bombs.
no surrender-2.jpg

Wait, you had bombs? I thought the build mod had taken them out!! Where do you get bombs?

Everyone who has posted about it sets the surrender value to 0.04 or 0.05.
Really? I thought some people were complaining the surrenders still happen to frequently.
Anyway, if 0.05 is indeed a better value, I'll happily put that in instead. Anyone got any objections...?

Wait, you had bombs? I thought the build mod had taken them out!! Where do you get bombs?
We removed them from being purchased. Forts use them. And you can steal some if you find the secret back door into a fort.
That isn't going to be easy though. Prepare to meet with resistance! :wp

How quickly they surrender depends on who they are. A merchantman will surrender quickly but a pirate or naval vessel will often not surrender at all. Then the Captain has a lot to do with it too. A naval ship might surrender while the merchantman next to it keeps on fighting.
Finding the sweet spot is tricky because you don't want them to surrender too easily, but you want to have a prize that will not sink and cost you a good officer either. Like in the battle between the Constitution and the Guerriere the British held out so long that there was nothing left to salvage and it had to be burned. I would suggest 0.04 and see what people think.

Bombs? :nerbz Yeah they are still around but it is mostly a matter of luck getting them. A secret back door to forts? I never found one of those.
I just walk in the front door and go looking for loot in out of the way corners and random civilians to rob. Every once in a while you will find one that can supply you with ordnance. If he does not start yelling for the guards first.......:facepalm
Also, very rarely one can encounter a dismasted vessel at sea and even more rarely it is an ordnance tender full of bombs. That is where I got mine. :xmas

My one ctd a day. This one happened while talking to an npc in Bridgetown.

0.04 it is. :yes

A secret back door to forts? I never found one of those.
Well, not so "back door", perhaps. I meant it as in: NOT the "frontal assault from sea" entrance. :wp

Hey, I forgot there was a DirectSail event for that too. Nice! :woot

My one ctd a day. This one happened while talking to an npc in Bridgetown.
Just talking? That's a weird time for a CTD. No clue in the logs either that I can see.
Was it any specific type of character? The only consistent dialog-based CTDs are the ones where their dialogs are too long.

I don't really remember what type he was. All I remember is I was tapping the space bar when the screen froze.

Just got my first ctd for today. Just finished fighting a bounty hunter and was walking away, then ctd. It seems perhaps there is a problem with transitions from screen to screen. Just guessing really.

I know there are random CTDs. Had two yesterday when I was doing crazy stuff at sea around Barbados. No clue on why it happened though. :(

Opening post updated with new version: Jack Sparrow storyline Clint Eastwood issue fixed.
No new game required, just load an earlier savegame from before Bootstrap talks to you in the tavern.

Edit: Plus MORE quest trace lines to hopefully track down our "little problem" further. :modding
