Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

I put that stuff above the "give ship" line in the console.

Only three? IRRC most of the escort missions were bugged. But I quit doing them years ago.

Oh wait! You're using the console.c from the download, right? You need to change switch(0) to switch(1) otherwise it doesn't work.

I had already fixed the main problem ages ago and most have worked ever since. Then there were a couple of towns that had special problems that I have now fixed too.
So you should be able to start doing them again. I'd appreciate it if someone did, because I want to know for sure that there ARE proper fixed now.

Turns out that:
- Antigua needed a special case because that pier just messes things up
- Alice town didn't work because the port didn't have "port" in the location ID
- Port au Prince didn't work because EVERY location had "port" in the location ID

But like I said: those are all good now.

If there are any other features that you haven't used in ages due to long-standing bugs, please let me know.
Those are the types of things I would really like to have sorted for Beta 3!
 
Me thinks if i actually did any work on potc NH years back maybe i was i who put some of that mods in it Hylie?? lol ;) Might have done some work on the portuguese and spanish also.Can't remember anything don't even remember what alias i used then in this website. Oh been made powder monkey very apt as iam from Gib,there are monkeys everywhere i can assure u but not seen any skeletal monkeys around lol! So what don't u understand Hylie? I can't write Americano hehe!! I have'nt tried yet to bring escort to curacao and see if it clears that bug. I'll try game when i can. Yes that mod clutters things somewhat but its fun. Iam playing custom game from nathaniel with invented Irish character,i used green pirate flag,named the ship Irish lady and named myself as an irish ancestor of mine. I used some sharpe costume character i found in green with green jacket but brown hair like myself. Now im role play i hate the english but its love hate as an irish rebel.Got portuguese marque. Maybe we can do some plot like that for next edition. Can new stories be put in and why is'nt captain blood storyline ported from COAS GOF? That's a good one too. Iv got a friend who is a graphic illustrator on pc,i'll talk to him if he wants to help. Anyone approached akella and bethesda if they can help with codes or free the game once and for all after 10 years??

I made that switch some time ago when I got stuck during boardings while at a very low level. What I did here was put the new stuff underneath the (0), and it did not work. Later I moved it up on top and it worked. The old treasure quest is gone, but I have not gotten a new one yet.

DofG: When I look at your wall of text my vision blurs. I try to pick out key words in order to make some sense out of it but probably only understand 1/4th at most.

EDIT: I experienced a game crash during loading screen.

Can it be done: yes. Why hasn't it been done? It requires time and effort and most importantly somebody to do it. We don't have somebody to do it.
We've got a grand total of one coder and it is me trying to fix the known gameplay issues and just get this proper playable.

Anyone approached akella and bethesda if they can help with codes or free the game once and for all after 10 years??
We asked them years ago, but nobody has the source code for the game anymore. NOBODY! Not that it matters, because we have nobody here who could work with it anyway.
Other than that, they don't even seem to care about releasing their own new games and make some money.
Not to mention that Disney holds the license. We can expect no help from any companies. :no

If they are bugged no use including them in final edition 3.0 then.
Beta 3 is still going to be a Beta. Can't fix everything at the same time. Not to mention that removing content is NOT an easy thing to do either.
Anyway, what are we talking about now? What is bugged that shouldn't be included?

Nothing helpful there, I'm afraid.
I've seen those missing character ID errors too, but they look REALLY weird. The game is supposed to tell us WHAT character is missing.
But I'm seeing it with no ID whatsoever. And now you've got one with an "error" ID. Doesn't make much sense. :modding

A couple of small fixes and improvements this time. Oh.... and some fixes to Capture Colonies. That too. :wp
NOTE: There is a new INSTALLER again too. Please use that instead!

Please keep an eye out for the following:
- Are there any town or island names that don't display properly in the game? Especially ones with "complex characters" like Hôpital or so?
- So how does Capture Colonies work now? Try this in as many different ways as you can manage.
- Does the Elizabeth Shaw's Disappearance sidequest work properly now that the scene where a certain famous film character appears has been somewhat changed?

Installed latest update 13/09/13 and now i'm getting a Runtime error when attempting to run the engine. Anyone else getting this?

Try fix those niggly bugs im not daring to install the new update yet. It's too much work for one guy Peter! I'll try help but its long time not done any programming stuff and it does demand a lot of time and effort. Bethesda too busy with skyrim and that new elder scrolls game online thing. Now idea about akella and if they still exist anyone speak Bulgarian? Fuf!! I'll make next comments in block letters and double space for Hylie.

Not a bug, just a mistake. Though I'm not entirely sure how it happened.

e.g:

  • Shop owners must at least address me in a way or another and give me discounts, if not free:cheeky seadogs2_0017.jpg
 
And all other things work as they should: I have my own soldiers, colony flag is correct capture colony interface works great, soldiers address me properly:wp,etc

That's the locatorfile become visible for some reason. Open the Tool and "sink" the locatorfile 10 meters and it'll be ok.

Good point; that description is out-of-date. I changed it to single-shot when I put the reload time at 1 second.
Next update will change the description.

Ah, I was afraid that might happen. I restored some WIP 13 code that seems to have caused that, hoping that it would also allow you to go to sea from port when the "danger" icon is flashing.
I'll look into it.

Yup, that's the locator file alright. I might have the redo some of them buggers anyway. I don't think they're all correct.

I think the only dialog that is updated for it is the Kralendijk governor. Ad that one contained a link to "invasion fleet" code that doesn't exist, so I had to remove that.
Problem there is that all dialogs would have to modified individually. That's a lot of files and a lot of work. Not overly difficult though, but it takes too much time for me to do it. :facepalm

You DO get discounts at the stores and such though, depending on the "morale" of the town.
Once you own a town, you can also sell contraband there for regular price.
