Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

you got a point here, it would make sense to have other ways to find it. And if you are already cursed, maybe you should have access to it without that certain object?
Why would you suddenly know where it is once you've got a coin? Wouldn't that make breaking the curse a little bit too easy?
According to the films, Isla de Muerta should be HARD to find. But it isn't; you can get there in five minutes if you know where to look.
Which is OK, I suppose. After all, it cannot be found, except by those who already know where it is. :facepalm

I was just wondering if it had been set up so you could find it after being cursed. Everything turned out well.

That overlay has been a consistent pain for a while now. 2 or 3 WIPS ago methinks.

I know the code related to it wasn't changed. And I know I've seen those cannon numbers show up at least as far back as last year, if not longer.
It's not a recent thing, but I haven't been able to track it down. If you've got an affected save, perhaps I can figure out what is causing it to misbehave.

Of course the game does seem to enjoy misbehaving. More random quirks than you can shake a stick at. Fix one and you get two more back, apparently.
And some of it most assuredly doesn't make sense. That Fencing skill that stopped increasing was definitely bizarre.
As is the SL_Utils.c problem that keeps plaguing the quests system in one way or another. It seems minimizing the problems caused by them is the best I can do.
Why it goes wrong in the first place, I don't have the foggiest. No reason that I can see at all. :modding

Can't do it in the game, but can do it through code for boardermodels. What do you want your crew to look like?

On another note, those cursed coins are too common. I got another one. Can one find that certain island without getting that certain bosun first?
Did I mention that finding more cursed coins does NOT make you more cursed. You can use the additional ones either to make one of your crew/officers stronger at night or just sell the thing.
You can only get a one-coin curse by finding them. A worse curse can only be caused by getting additional coins from the chest on Isla de Muerta.
So finding more coins doesn't cause any harm to the player at all.

Well that overlay seems to be consistent now so this save should have it.

it should overwrite that when you gain your first rank (I think its midshipman)

EDIT: I have a little report for that: Sometimes it doesnt set it back to normal when you dont work for the country anymore

I'll give it a whirl. :doff

What exactly doesn't reset back to normal? I know I rewrote that code a bit recently, but didn't get round to testing it.

I mean that sometimes, when I stop to work for e.g. england, my crew stays as english soldiers. I think I can overwrite that when I buy a Letter of Marque from another country, but I think I tested this only one or two times.

AH! Indeed that would happen. There's no code in place to reset them.
I could remove the boardermodel code when you leave the service, but what if you have TWO LoM's at the same time?
That'd complicate matters. :facepalm

I dont even knew that that is working :D idk, but imo more LoM at the same time is a bit senseless? Especially if you are at a higher rank :D I think it wasnt too common to hire a midshipman that was a spanish captain at the same time :D

perfect!
I started a new game today and I think the food you have onboard still isnt enough for sailing to Jamaica. Because I only had enough left for 4 days but I play with mapvoyagelength = 1.0

And maybe we should add a dialog for malcom to skip the whole tutorial on Speightstown. Because its useless when you played the game before and it only kills time.

A last report: I read it before that the french squadron caused some trouble: The whole story worked wonderful for me until now ;)

I'd consider that a success already; at least your crew doesn't DIE anymore.

You can do that already, no? Just tell him you know everything already. Still have to do the repairing and resupplying though.
What about using the Stormy Start option? That throws you into a random opening scenario that could be much more interesting.

That seemed to be a random fluke that most of the time plagued Armada. I've done just about everything to avoid it by now. :facepalm
