Ah, okay. It's not anything weird then.

The game with ENB has also seemed to eliminate all the weird jagged polygons I was getting - the version without ENB still gets them, but I'm thinking it's a Nvidia driver issue as they seem to be unable to release working drivers these days. xD: Definitely isn't card overheating problems.

Yes, I'm sure it saved with a profile - I'd actually loaded from the most recent save a couple of times before it vanished. My most recent three saves disappeared, but the oldest three remained and still work. That hasn't happened since, so I'm hoping that was just a fluke.

There was a character hiding inside the talking house. :eek:ops Forgot I can swing the camera around. It's the BuildingSet mansion.

The save problem returns. I just installed patch 3.1 on my laptop amd after three saves I can't save because it says I don't have an active profile. I thought we fixed this. any ideas about what I should do.
 
I've never had that type of save problem. Rarely, after a ctd a save will be missing, but that is it.

I tried ENB a few months ago. Didn't like it and still got the jaggies. Nvidia drivers have been randomly crashing on me for 1 1/2 years. Methinks the 186.18(188.14?) were the last stable drivers.


I wuz playing around with sails and tried the ones with national colors. The class 3 Pinnace of War I wuz escorting got them. The class 4 Fluyt got them. But my class 4 Fluyt of War did not get them. :eek:k Swapping ships proved it is not a players ship problem. Kinda like that ship and don't want to trade it in for a Pinnace.


The merchant at Tortuga, Jasmine Cotton, looks good and even walks around her store ok, while Kate Blowhorn at Nevis is a mess. What is different between them?
 
Kate Blowhorn a mess? Please post on the bug tracker.

Sometimes the game just loses its active profile. If it does, we added a button in Save/Load to reload the profile. That should help...
 
Well, ok. There was a thread around here somewhere dedicated to fixing her. I threw this out here to see if it helps anyone find the solution to Kate's bent arms.
 
Hmm, I've just been looking through this thread out of interest, and was confused by some people claiming that ENB performs well, because last time i tried to install POTC i first tried with the graphical enhancement but it crippled the game to probably less than 1 FPS. I might have installed the wrong thing though - i had a choice of two extras and i think the descriptions were mixed up, so i'm not sure which i chose in the end.

Anyway, even after reinstalling without any of the extras (which fixed the framerate), i eventually had to give up due to bugs - presumably caused by the horrible installation process i had to use to get from Alpha 8 to Beta 1 using only light installations. When the next patch is released i'm gonna just try and use the full installation like Pieter kept telling me. If that doesnt work I'll just download the whole game, i own the game, and the cd broke after lending it to a friend :S So i think i deserve to pirate the bloody thing really.

Anyway, the point of this is, do you need a really high spec computer to run ENB, or did i install the wrong component? My computer can run Mass Effect 2 on maxed graphics with no problems, so im confused about this.

EDIT After having a look at the possibility of getting a torrent of the vanilla game, I'm still worried about it and wanted to see if anyone can shed light on this. I know this is probably not a very safe topic on a forum like this, but I know some publishers are very active in prosecuting pirates, does anyone know how likely I am to get in trouble for downloading POTC???
 
Indeed the descriptions for ENB and SwiftShader ARE messed up. Recommendation: Don't install them from the main installer.
Download the seperate files from the ModDB instead and at least you'll be sure to get what you want.
ENB runs smoothly on my new laptop, but didn't on my old one. :shrug

Have you tried downloading Build 14 Beta 1 Full and installing that on top of your current game version?
That might work better that using the Light installer stuff.

I don't think anybody cares if you download PotC somewhere, especially not if you originally bought it anyway.
Though we don't want to promote software pirating here. :razz
 
I wonder if ENB acting up has anything to do with which operating systems we're running? Those of us on Windows 7 seem to be fine. :yes Or is it the whole Nvidia/Ati "thing" that seems to afflict so many games, since those I've run across on here that ENB works great for all seem to have Nvidia graphics cards?

I'd think the chances of getting 'caught' file sharing, per se, more depend on who your Internet Service Provider is. Some of them cater to big business and will report you as soon as they detect something, and others will outright ignore it. It's a big risk whether you own a copy of the game or not, since you can still be sued simply because you file shared yourself a replacement copy. There's also some ISPs that are totally anti-torrenting, which means they'll come after you even if you're downloading legal freeware programs.

But, anyways, I'd best quit while I'm ahead. xD:
 
I'm quite happy living in The Netherlands, where downloading stuff is legal in the first place as long as you don't share it.
In other words, the people uploading are illegal, but the ones downloading are not.
And especially if you already own it, you're allowed to make copies of it for your own use or as backup too.

I'm not sure if ENB works nicely here because I use Windows 7 or because my computer is much better than my last.
 
Curses! You are going to make me try ENB again. I was probably on Vista when I tried it. It worked, but was ugly and did nothing for the fractals/tearing. I'm using Win7 64 now with nvidia.

I have been using ENB for a while now, and it does seem to make a small difference with the fractals/tearing and ctds. I still have them, but not quite as badly or as often. The only change I have made to ENB is to turn the bloom effect way down.
 
Congrats on the Beta release, i was wondering, where/what is the file name for the file witch display the starting items, its bin a while since i modded....

hey guys i have a realy annoying issue.
i have to much money and my crew is getting jealous every 30 secconds or so i get te muteny message.
i don't know whats wrong also the personal wealth and crew money thing is getting me confused.
my crew has almost all of my money i have about 9000 and they have about 5.000.000
so why should they get anry with me?
also when i want to buy something i can do that with the crew's money and not my own.
is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?

o and the way i got the money is all wrong to i just attack certain shores ( pirate settelments) over and over again i'm pretty certain this is not meant to be this way. also it's to easy.
 
Mutiny! :2guns That is explained somewhere. Anyway, that is the ship's money you are carrying, and if it gets over 1,000,000 piastres or dubloons or whatever the crew wants you to share it with them. Or else. :ixi To prevent a mutiny go into your Captains cabin, go to the ships chest, and deposit the money in there. Voila! No more mutiny. :cheers

If it is too easy, you can start a new game and crank up the difficulty level, or you can go to church and talk to a priest.

but why is there a feature where you can donate money to your crew if it doesn't work and why do you have personal wealth?
 
If you are talking about giving money to your crew to raise their morale, it does work. After you capture a ship the crew's morale is usually treacherous. You can give them money to raise their morale. Or, if you are out of food or rum you can raise their morale with money. Temporarily. Their stomachs will have them complaining again in no time. That is the situation when you have too much cash. Giving them money only helps for a short while.

About personal wealth. All money is the ship's money. Everyone aboard works for the ship and is paid according to rank. For example, able crewmen are paid one portion each. Officers are paid two portions each, and the Captain is paid three portions. Your personal wealth is the money you earned when you get payed along with everyone else every month.
 
actually i meant the butten donate money to crew. it's on the same page. and why do you even have personal wealth when you do nothing with it? :shrug
i think someone needs to look into this some more.
 
I found out about starting equipment, i just added this lines to "standar Storyline" and replaced the medical1 with other items and changed the values...

PS. I also has that Crew mutiny problem, i think it is a problem course i must in to "raise morale" every 20 second in "world map" and now i am running out of money,,, i have food and rum, i didnt have this problem in the other builds...
