See bottom of post for update info.
These files add a new free-play scenario, “Brave Black Flag,” to the game in addition to numerous items, ships, characters and some function/aesthetic improvements.
For continuity, Jack Rackham’s “Landcrew files 20 aug 2014” is included as well since some of the same files were altered and needed to be combined.
BRAVE BLACK FLAG SCENARIO: A free play adventure set in the Golden Age of Piracy which includes:
*A modified tutorial
*All of the standard game’s side quests.
*Start the game with a full cadre of 7 officers
*Some standard story characters and ships have been altered for greater variety, challenge, and reward.
*Full wardrobe of 12 outfits from beginning of the game based on the Blaze model.
*Active Pirate nation: In addition to the settlement on Nevis and Grand Turk, the pirates now control Tortuga as well. All three locations have active governors that will induct you into the Brethren of the Coast and give coastal raider missions.
*Pirates will now trade with you regardless of reputation so long as you do not hold any letters of marque from the major powers.
NEW ITEMS: 7 new equipment items have been added:
*Carpenter’s Toolkit: These high-quality tools improve a carpenter's ability to effectively make repairs. (+1 Repair)
*Good Luck Charm: A sterling silver shamrock pendant. You can't buy this kind of luck, you can only find it. (+1 Luck)
*Master Keys: Keys to the powder room, weapon's locker, and rum storage. Possessing these keys denotes the crewman as a trusted officer and worthy of respect. (+1 Leadership)
*Blade Care Kit: Contains a whetstone, oil, and a fine rag. Take care of your blade and it will take care of you. (+1 Melee)
*Gunner’s Drum: Training the gun crews to work by drum beat allows them to move more quickly and efficiently. (+1 Cannons)
*Gunner’s Glass: A low-magnification, graduated spyglass designed for artillery officers, allowing them to adjust fire quickly. (+1 Accuracy)
*Silk Boarding Ropes: Lighter and stronger grapple lines made from woven silk; easier to throw, harder to cut. (+1 Grapple)
NEW ARMOR TYPES: 3 new armor types have been added:
*Gorget: Neck armor, usually brass or steel, often favored by swordsmen.
*Leather Jerkin: A leather vest; provides some protection against blade and gun wounds.
*Cured Leather Cuirass: Battle armor made of hardened leather; provides light protection against blade and gun wounds.
NEW WEAPONS: 2 new pistols and 1 blade have been added:
*Brace of 4 Horse Pistols: 4 horse pistols (formerly “scrapper” pistols) which replace the pump shotgun for Clint Eastwood on Nevis; a proper super-weapon for the best gunfighter in the Caribbean. Requires “Professional Gunman” to equip.
*Flintlock Revolver: Based on the one invented by Elisha Haydon Collier (1788–1856). Requires “Master Gunfighter” to equip. Napoleonic period only. “Master Gunfighter” perk now available in all scenarios.
*Hibernian Broadsword: This is an Irish-made, 32 inch, high-quality steel side sword with a heavy, double-edged blade.
NEW CHARACTER MODELS:
*12 new character models.
NEW SHIPS: 9 new ships are added to the game based on existing models with modified textures.
*Armed Merchantman: An obsolete light frigate sold at auction and converted into an armed trading vessel.
*Heavy Armed Merchantman: An obsolete ship-of-the-line, purchased at auction
and refitted as a merchantman. (2 versions)
*Heavy Patrol Frigate: A large frigate designed for long-range endurance, sacrificing some firepower for speed and cargo capacity. (3 versions)
*Auction Frigate: An aging frigate deemed unfit for navy service and sold at auction. (2 versions)
*3rd Rate Battleship: A new red and black variant on the existing battleship.
NEW TAILOR OPTION:
*The “Famous Pirates Collection” can now be purchased at any tailor, for 10,000 gold, without the cheat option activated.
NEW FLAGS: 2 new flags have been added to the game:
*PERSONAL: Irish Harp flag
*PIRATE: Smoking skull in tricorner hat
IMPROVED BACKGROUND PROFESSIONS:
This changes the Player Type function to allow for 20 different professional backgrounds, each with their own starting skills, log entries, and unique starting gear. It is designed to be used with the Realistic Skills option.
*Characters begin play at level 5 with pre-assigned Skill Points and unassigned Perk Points based on their former career. This is especially helpful with the new Lower Officer Levels mod which is now part of 14.3.3. It also eliminates the need to spend time grinding to increase skills to a useful level at the start of a new game.
*Each profession has a unique captain's log entry giving some detail on the character's previous life and how they became the captain of their own ship.
*Each profession starts the game with bonus gear that is based on the character's chosen vocation prior to starting play.
The professions are:
Adventurer: You have spent your life seeking fame, fortune and glory, going where the winds (and rumors of treasure) have taken you.
Agent: You have recently retired from the secret service of one of Europe’s major powers
Army Veteran: You have served in the ground forces of a major power, either as a regular soldier or a mercenary for hire.
Corsair: You have cut your teeth as a seaman aboard a pirate vessel and now have been raised to captain by your brethren in recognition of your prowess and cunning.
Engineer: You have served one of the great powers as a military engineer, building bridges, fortifications, and undermining enemy defenses during sieges.
Explorer: Much of the new world is still uncharted and you have been employed discovering what lies beyond the frontiers of colonial power.
Gambler: A professional card player, you have won your ship in a game of chance and now seek adventure and fortune on the high seas.
Gunner: You are a trained artilleryman who has now moved on to commanding a ship of your own.
Marine: You have served as a fighter aboard navy vessels, boarding enemy vessels in combat and defending your own from the same.
Merchant: You are the new captain of a merchant vessel, having bought out the interest of the ship’s former captain who has retired to life on land.
Naval Officer: You have been an officer on a naval vessel of one of the great powers and now, at long last, command a ship of your own.
Physician: A former ship’s surgeon, you have adapted to life at sea and now command a vessel of your very own.
Quartermaster: A ship’s paymaster, you stepped-in to act as captain when the ship’s commanding officer and first mate were lost on a prior journey. Having shown an aptitude for the job the position has now fallen to you.
Rebel: A freedom fighter on the run from the authorities in the old world, you have moved on to the new to try your hand at making a better life there.
Rogue: A criminal on the run, you have invested a portion of your last venture’s proceeds in a ship to escape capture and arrive in the new world ready to make a return on that investment.
Sailor: A lowly sailor, you have skimped and saved all your life with the dream of one day owning a ship of your own. That day has come at last.
Shipwright: A designer and builder of ships, the wanderlust has taken hold of you and you now leave port in a vessel built with your own hands.
Smuggler: The first officer of a smuggling vessel, your foolish captain has landed himself in prison leaving you in command to run things as you see fit.
Social Climber: You mean to go places in life. If a ship can take you there then so be it.
Sword Master: A fencing master from Europe, you have trained soldiers and noblemen alike to know one end of a sword from another. Board by this pursuit, you have bought a ship and made your way to the Caribbean to find the adventure and glory missing in your sequestered life back home.
